August 31, 200619 yr Hi,I am presently using ASv6 on my main FS9 computer with 3 other computers linked via Wideview with FS9 also installed on them. The weather update synchronization does not work very well.My thought was to set up ASv6 on a non-FS9 computer and then link my main FS9 computer and all 3 view computers with FS9 installed on them through ActiveRadarConnector.exe and WideFS.Does anyone know that if I do this, I can in fact hook up 4 computers to the non FS9 computer that has ASv6 installed on it? In other words, will the non FS9 computer with ASv6 be able to connect and send the weather to all the 4 FS9 computers with the hopes of better synchronization? One final question would be if in fact you can do what I am suggesting, do you have to set up a separate non-FS9 computer for ASv6 or could I just install ASv6 on my main FS9 computer and then connect all three view computers with FS9 via the ActiveRadarConnector.exe and WideFS?As I am writing this I am starting to think of the problems associated with what WideFS dll do you put on the three view FS9 computers? Does that mess this whole idea up?Your thoughts would be very much appreciated.Regards,Matthew
August 31, 200619 yr Hi Matthew,Thanks for writing about this. What you have found is pretty much the same thing that a few other have discovered when attempting to use WideView with multiple copies of FS04: that the weather just does not always match up. I can share the follwoing with you:1. You would need an individual purchase of ASv6 for each installation of FS04. Running the same copy of ASv6 on multiple machines at the same time is against the User Agreement.2. ActiveRadarConnector.exe is not going to help at all. That links AR to ASv6 across a network. It really will not sync. any weather. The same goes for WideFS. Those are not graphics link type programs, only data.3. WideFS can be used on multiple machines for data transfers but not graphics.4. Another blocking point is that even though the weather conditions would be the same, the way that FS04 would show those conditions would be different. The cloud patterns would be different and there is a slight bit of randomness built into FS04 and ASv6.I hope this answers your questions! There have been a few posts about this I think if you were to search for Wideview here in our fourm. Please write if you need more help or have more questions.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
September 1, 200619 yr Hi Jim,Thank you very much for your thoughts. They were very helpful. One question I have is that if I wanted to use WideFS for the data transfer to the multiple view computers, where would I put the WideFS server dll and where would I put the WideFS client dll? I am a little confused about this since all the machines would have FS9 and I didn't think you could put client dll's on a machine with FS9. Is this not true? Would you just put a client dll in the ASv6 folder in the modules folder of FS9 on the view computers?Your help in the placement of the dll's would be appreciated.Again, many thanks,Matthew
September 1, 200619 yr Hi Matthew,You are correct, server is the machine with FS04 on it and clients do not have FS04. All of this is why many users just go to multiple monitors, because then all this works out OK.Honestly, this is the end of my knowledge of this topic. Maybe other users have other suggestions.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
