FS04 does not load

Featured Replies

Dear reader,I just bought ASV6 and am still trying to get my flight preparation flow correct. The first bits I saw so far are very promising.I have, however, encountered a first annoying problem.I start ASV6 and process a flight plan to get the local, intermediate and destination weather. ASG then submits the weather influenced textures to FS9.If I start FS, the splash screen is shown and FS exits. The work around I found, is to restore the original FS9 textures, start FS and only after this process my flight plan and have the textures submitted. As I think there should be another way to have FS correctly load without having to restore the textures first, I would like to ask you for your advice.Kind regards,Bart

Hi,Thanks for the purchase and welcome.Sorry you are having a problem.Try with Render to Texture turned on in FS04. Then start ASv6 and FS04 again. It may be that you have DTX textures and for that, Render to Texture must be On.Please let us know if this works,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

Hi Jim,Thanks for the prompt reply.Render to texture was already turned on.I also have DTX textures for my LDS763 livery and this hasn't caused any problems.Once FS has been started, I can let ASG submit the textures without any problem. Some more research on my side has shown the themes cause the same problem when using DTX textures. Disabling the option to use DTX resolves the issue.Any ideas why the ASG DTX textures would cause FS to fail loading? Are there perhaps any other rendering settings I should tweak to be able to start with the weather influenced DTX textures?Kind regards,Bart

Hi Bart,I wish you to try one other thing: move your FS9.cfg file out and let a new one be generated. You may have a bad setting ib your file.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

Hi Jim,I couldn't find a file called FS9.cfg in the FS2004 root folder. Where should it be located?Don't you think it is odd that disabling DXT sceneries fixes the problem?Kind regards,Bart

Hi,Yes I do and that is what makes me believe it is another setting. Also, this CDT usually happens at 77%.It is in C:Documents and SettingsUser NameApplication DataMicrosoftFS9It is in a hidden folder so you must have those visable or just do a serach.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

Hi Jim,Removing the configuration file did not help.Even with default settings for everything, FS crashes right after the splash screen.I completely re-installed and everything works OK until ASV is installed.Anyway, I will keep on using 32 bit textures for the weather textures as this setting seems to work fine. This allows me to enjoy flying instead of trying to find the pin in the haystack. Thanks for your help.Kind regards,Bart
