ASV6 and GE Professional.

Featured Replies

Hi Gang,Firstly, let me say how absolutely impressed I am, and astounded by the surreal absorption I now feel in all of my flight simulator flights. This is all down to the makers of ASV and GE Professional and of course Flight Environment too.I have always enjoyed using ASV, and then FE and GE when they came out, now this was a massive enhancement to my FS experience, but with ASV now combined with GE Pro, well, it is truly mouth watering,I have had a few non FS friends come round, and they could not believe what they were seeing. let me give you a typical example, I live some fifteen minutes away from EGBB, or BHX as we call it, and I fired up ASV6, gave it the instruction to refresh the weather, then acquired the current metar for BHX, and then GE Pro asked me if I wanted it to set the ground and sky textures for the flight based on this current metar, of course I said yes, so after all this was done, I fired up FS9.1 and set my PSS B757-200 to BHX, with the current day and time, and after a min or so, all the weather and other textures were set.I then drew back the curtain in the PC room and asked my friends what they thought, of course, I can't put in here exactly what they said because this is a family orientated forum, but, suffice as to say they were suitably impressed at what they saw in the sim, and what they were looking at out of my window, they were gob smacked.Fantastic job done by Damien and all at ASV and Peter and Anthony I think, Thanks guy's.I have a question for you, and hoped that someone might be able to offer me some suggestions as to how to try and get this scape that I would like to try.I would like to fire up ASV6 and get it to set the weather for me to snowy and wintry etc, and then get it to get GE Pro to set the clouds and ground textures for this same Snowy theme, is there a way that I can do this please, I do realise that I would have to disable the automatic up-dates, but I just wanted to try this soft of flight with everything in a snowy theme etc.Thank you for any tips or advise on how this can be done.

Jim or Damien !any suggestions please. Thanks,

Hi Steve,Thanks so much for the kind words and your willingness to show others what we have done!I am back to work now, so I am not able to answer as quickly as I was all Summer!!Load the theme in ASv6.Apply it to all stations.Enter a flightplan or use the GE Pro button. If you have GEP options turned on, then GEP will start in auto mode and you answer Yes, No, Yes and FS04 will start up.I hope this is what you needed to know,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

Hi Jim,I'm not too sure about what you mean by "load the theme" into FS9, and then let GE Pro do the rest etc, sorry to be a pain about this, but a tad more info would be most welcome.and as far as my comments are concerned, you are most welcome, but I was not trying to say or state anything that is not true, I was merely trying to convey the HUGE difference I experienced across to other simmers that still might not have made the move over to ASV6 and GE Pro.if there are any simmers that have not made the move yet, my message is a simple one Do It Now, you will Not regret it at all. Thanks again Jim.

Just to give you an up date Jim,I clicked on the theme for snowy etc, and set the stations and range, then it said did I want GE Pro to set the relevant textures for me, and I clicked yes, but after starting up FS I didn't have the snow or blizzard theme, just snowy ground textures.did I miss something here,Thanks.

Hi Steve,Not a problem! Here are the steps:Start ASv6 and go to Wx Configurator.Select the Weather Theme.Select the Station(s) and range.Click on the Apply button.Click on the Save and Close button. In the flight planner, either enter your plan or import the plan.Click on the Process button. ASv6 processes the plan and Auto Starts GEP.Answer Yes, No, Yes and FS04 should start up with snow, and winter textures. Please let us know how this works out!Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
