Active Sky Graphics

Featured Replies

Just recently installed ASv6. I seem to be a litle confused about AS Graphics. I did read the manual. I can not seem to get this working if I understand it correctly. I open ASv6 and then click AS Graphics. I pick a weather situation, e.g. dew point. I then Choose "load into FS". After a short time, I get a confirmation message that it loaded OK. FS is running at the time. Now this is my question. Is this selected theme (dew point) supposed to automatically appear as the weather in FS? How am I supposed to see what I selected? I know I must be doing somwthing wrong or not understanding what ASG is supposed to do?Thanks, AL

Hi Al,Sorry for the confusion. A few things:1. When using ASG make sure that FS is closed. That is the only way to update textures and get them to show up except for cirrus.2. ASG themes contain no weather data, only textures. The confusion is in the word "theme". We call it a theme because it is a large group of textures. The weather data will still come from ASv6. So when you chose the Dew Point Theme no weather data was sent, only textures. So the preview pictures only show what possibly FS04 will look like. Please let us know if this clears things up!Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

Thanks Jim. So then, as I understand it, these textures (from a particular theme) are placed in FS. If you should get into a real weather situation that requires such textures then that would be the way it would look. Is this correct? Can you import multiple textures at one time or only one at a time? Also one other thing how do these textures that come from AS work with textures that come from GEPro? Do they compliment one another or does one override the other? Thanks again, Al

Hi Al,1. No, not really. Do this, start ASG and go to the Dew Point Theme and then click on the Selection Details button. On the right side of the screen you will see all the textures that will be sent to FS04. For example, the Sun will be Sun4 and the Haze Color will be White. That whole list will be used no matter what the weather will be. So again, Themes in ASG are just large groups of textures that we grouped together and gave them a name.2. So now knowing #1 we can see that multiple textures can be imported/sent. Now, you can't send different textures of the same class and have them all in FS and then tell FS which to use because the file names are all the same in FS.3. The only overlap is the Sky color textures. The program that runs last will be the Sky Color that you will see.Keep asking! Jim: Thanks for your kind help. So you can send multiple textures but not of the same class. What are the different classes? Please give me an example of what you mean, thanks. How do the textures of AS differ from the textures from GEPro. Can they coexist together.Do all these textures reside in the FS9 texture folder? Thanks, Al

Hi,A class such as cumulus. We can't say: "OK FS04 here are a bunch of cumulus textures, run the best one".The only overlap is in the sky color. Other than that there is no overlap. No, ASG textures are in the ASG folder and the GEP textures are in the GEP folder. Only the textures being used by FS04 are a part of FS04. So think of ASG and GEP as texture loaders.Thanks!Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
