November 29, 200619 yr Hi,I have purchased and installed the latest version of AS.My problem is that AS doesn't seem to "override" the FS2004 weather settings. For example: I select a certain theme in AS Graphics and send it to FS. When I startup FS2004 and simply choose "create a flight" and leave the weather settings within FS2004 untouched, the weather settings will be the ones from FS2004 (meaning, if the weather in FS2004 was set to "Clear" in FS2004, the sky will be clear and if I select "Overcast", well, it will be overcast), BUT the graphics of the clouds is apparently coming from AS, since they look much better than the original ones. What am I suppose to select within FS2004 to have the weather settings taken from AS, instead of FS2004?Another question: If I select one of the time of day-specific themes (morning, dawn etc.) - is AS also suppose to change the time within FS2004 to accommodate for the theme, or do I have to manually select the correct time within FS2004?Thanks a lot!Chuck
November 30, 200619 yr Hi Chuck,Thanks for writing.1. You need to know that the AS Graphics Themes contain no weather data themselves. The weather data comes from AS and AS must be kept running while you fly. If you do this, then on the FS Weather page, the weather should automatically be set to User defined and AS should recognize your current location and send that weather data to FS.No, again there is no data attached to those Themes so you will manually adjust the time in FS.Please let us know if this helps!Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
November 30, 200619 yr Hi Jim,Thanks a lot for your fast response. When the weather within FS2004 is set to "User defined", it takes ~30 seconds after I "arrive" in the cockpit before the correct weather is displayed. During this time, I normally see the green band on the screen with the METAR information (often two times) - is this the weather information from AS or from FS2004?Also: How do I set the weather to a certain theme WITHOUT getting the real weather information. Example: I live in the Bay Area and we have no clouds here, but I want to depart from KSFO in heavy rain, using AS - how can I do this? (meaning: suppress the real weather, but get one of the pre-defined themes from AS?)Seems that I'm missing something here - thanks for the great support!Chuck
November 30, 200619 yr Hi Chuck,1. That is correct activity. And that will be weather from AS. Really, there is never a need to go to the Weather page in FS.2. Switch to Offline Mode and use the Wx Configurator. We defined some basic weather themes there, or you can set up your own weather. Again, do not touch anything in FS, weather related, let AS handle everything.Keep 'em coming!Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
November 30, 200619 yr Jim,Tried what you told me yesterday and it works great.I assume that by "switching to offline mode" in AS, you meant to uncheck the "online updates" option in the settings, correct? One thing that is not really clear to me after all this is what do I actually change when using one of the themes in AS Graphics? Is it the actual graphic of the clouds/sky that is used? If so, how should I use AS Graphics - should I change the settings in AS Graphics only to create a very specific weather setting, or can I leave it mostly to Wx influenced and will AS try to model the weather by itself. Thanks a lot!Chuck
December 1, 200619 yr Hi Chuck,Yes, that is correct about Offline Mode.I know that "themes" may not be the best possible title, but maybe "group" would be better. Themes are broad category of textures that we have grouped together in one "package" or "theme". They are texture themes, not weather themes. If you are going to use Auto-Submit and Wx Influenced textures, then you don't even need to run ASG. Just set up AS under Graphics to auto-submit and to use Wx Influenced textures.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
