I have had this error call and have done what you asked (ie a fresh install)with the V/C off.before hand ran XOFTSPY twice and AVG twice both showed a clean comp and reg!!Ran AS6.5 that was checked by AVG for any virus that showed none was clean and no errors shown on weather download.then ran XOFTSPY and got this.MateWatcher is a spyware program that logs keystroles and monitors user activity on the infected machine. It records both sides of Yahoo, AIM, MSN and ICQ messenger conversations. It also takes screenshots and logs them on the local machine.(Servere Risk)SpyBouncerMakes fraudulent claims about spyware detection & removal. An alternate location for downloading the application is a typos-quat (www.goggle.com) No trial version available. Deceptive advertising masquerading as an online scan with positive results to goad the user into downloading the product.(Potentially Un-Wanted)Supreme Spy is a keylogger that records all user activity and saves it into a log file.(Servere Risk)this showed 49 faults.removed those and rebooted ran AS6.5 and got the error. uninstalled AS. ran a full check by both XOFTSPY and AVG. nothing a clean comp!!!reinstalled AS and ran it no errors! again ran XOFTSPY and had the same 49 faults. so the question is on install of AS is it placing these files into the reg? I can live with the fact that you do need to have someway to pull data down off the net but are any one of these files assorted with that process?if these are not part of the install then I am somewhat baffled!!!(not hard). but my Daughter is a IT consultant/trouble shoots for Banks ETC. and I could ask if she can find out the cause.Could be worth it as I don't want to stop using this great prog.Howard.

Hi Howard,Sorry for the problem.First of all, be asured that AS is not installing any spyware or keylogger programs or anything else harmful.The problem looks to be in the XOFTSPY software. Just as I thought as it is the chilkatzip2 file being falsely tagged.Chilkatzip2 is the ActiveX .zip extraction/compression component that we use(and have paid a license for) which is required by ActiveSky to operate. Wehave been seeing false flagging on the original chilkatzip.dll (not 2) forabout 2 years, just recently replacing it with the newer #2 which is stilljust recently starting to show up false-positive occasionally. In everycase we have checked on, the anti-spyware/AV software vendor has ALWAYS(eventually) made the appropriate fix in subsequent data file updates to NOTinclude this as a hit, as long as a registered user of such softwarecontacts tech support through proper channels to advise them of such. On the other hand, we do understand the importance ofmaking our product as simple to operate as possible, and this issuecertainly poses a problem for many users.
