December 18, 200619 yr Hi,Not sure if this has been posted before but when I install ActiveSky 6.5 into g:/ActiveSky, point to FSX folder when told the FSX folder could not be found, and point to the document/settings Apps Directory, I load up FSX and this loads up fine except that it tells me that FS is not loaded..... which is correct as I havn't started FSX.When I double click on the icon to start FSX, I get an hourglass and then a message saying that there was a problem with FSX and I need to run a reinstall to fix the problem. What I have had to do is uninstall ActiveSky 6.5, run a registry cleaner and then reboot the pc to get FSX working fine. If I dont this and simply reboot, FSX comes up with the restore message.I really loved ActiveSky on FS9 but my several attempts to get it working in FSX has failed. If anyone can give me help on this if they have seen something similar would be much appreciated. As FSX is 15 gig in size I installed it and ActiveSky on an external drive G while my Windows XP and other software is on C. Of course the Doscument Settings/Application Data folder is also on c.Any other FS apps are installed on G. Would this problem be caused by not using the C drive for ActiveSky.Have also installed the Patch for 6.5 and FSUIPC4 but no luck. FSX refuses to start when ActiveSky 6.5 is installed.CheersRoy
December 18, 200619 yr Hi Roy,Sorry for the problem. Can you double check and make sure that ASG Auto-Submit is turned Off in AS. You may be sending ASG textures to FSX. Thia may be causing the problem. Please let us know,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
December 23, 200619 yr Hi Jim,Sorry for the delay in getting back to your reply. No need to be sorry. I am pretty sure this issue is on my end or even with FSX.Today I decided to install active sky in the c drive. Before it installed in G:/basefolder/ by default so i figured it needed to be in the same drive as FSX.Now that active sky is on the c drive and FSX isw oin the G drive, FSX now loads without any problems. However, when I start up ActiveSky, the new beta just released, it still asks me for the folder for FSX, which I put in, and then the ActiveSky screen shows. However, ActiveSky is not able to see FSX connected.I then ran FSX and did not see the FSUIPC menu at the top. Now this worked before but I have reinstalled V4 of fsuipc but it no longer adds to FSX.When fsuipc.dll installed into FSX, it was successful and I can see FSUIPC4.DLL in the modules folder of FSX. The date of FSUIPC4.DLL is 25th November 2006 and it has a size of 197 KB.So now my status is:- FSX now loads- ActiveSky loads but does not see FSX connected- FSUIPC4 was installed but is not showing in FSX This is my ASv6.ini file. Note the FS9 path line here. I had replaced FS9 with FSX but when I start ActiveSky and it has problems finding the FSX folder, it looks like it puts the FS9 back in.Roy//ASv6.5 configuration file Build 536[General]WindowPosX = 495WindowPosY = 495DefaultWeatherFolder = C:ActiveskyModulesASv6SuppressionCeiling = 10000SurfaceWindLimit = 10FS9Path = G:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesMicrosoft Flight Simulator XPersonalAppDataFolder = C:Documents and SettingsRoy JordanApplication DataCloudLayerLimit = 5LocalSuppressionRange = 100MinimumVisibility = 0MaximumVisibility = 59LastPlanFolder = NONEAutoVasFrequency = 30AutoVasStrength = 30TurbulenceFrequency = DefaultStartupLocation = KSEADefaultGraphicsFullTheme = DefaultGraphicsCirrusTheme = AutoSubmitGraphicsTheme = FalseIncreasedWake = FalseDisableWindsAloft = FalseForcePrimaryServer = FalseForceSecondaryServer = FalseGEProAutoSubmit = FalseUseFetchedStationforGEPro = TrueShowDecodedMBasDecimal = FalseSkyOverride = GEPROFavorCumulus = FalseForceRoutePressure = FalseForceLowestCeiling = FalseUnpauseOnReadyStatus = FalseDisableWriteThrottle = FalseDisableProcessThrottle = FalseForceTstormsWithCB = FalseAutoSetFSTime = TrueIgnoreFSLocationUntilReady = FalseAutoConvertPlanFiles = TrueAutoRefreshAI = TrueDisableVisGraduation = FalseEnableGEProWideFSMode = FalseExtendedThrottling = FalseForceRouteAloftTemp = FalseOfflinePlayback = FalseEnableVAS = TrueAutoGenVAS = TrueForceDestinationWeatherZone = FalsePreventIcing = TrueOnlineUpdates = TrueExtendedDestinationWindsForce = FalseDisableAllGroundUpdates = FalseGlobalWrites = FalseDepictFS9HazeLayer = TrueExtendTstormLayers = FalseDisableDirectWindControl = FalseVoicePlayback = TrueLocalSuppression = TrueStartupSound = TrueDisableGroundUpdates = FalseUseProxyServer = FalseFogLayerGeneration = TrueUpdateSuppression = TrueOvercastEnhancement = TrueIgnoreFSReadyStatus = TrueFSUIPCWindSmoothing = TrueLimitSurfaceWinds = FalseLimitCloudLayers = TrueAutoGlobalWriteToggle = TrueRainWithTS = TrueDisableUpperLayerGeneration = FalseVisibilitySmoothing = TrueDisableMessages = FalseAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueUpdateInterval = 10VATSIMData = FalseZuluConversion = 11AloftPredictability = 100WindDriftRate = 0MaxCloudThickness = 10000MinStratusSeparation = 7000TAFProcessing = FalseEnforceVisibilityLimits = TrueWakeTurb = FalseStartPaused = FalseUseSystemTime = TrueDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONE
December 23, 200619 yr Hi,Now it is a SimConnect/FSUIPC communication problem. Try a reinstall of SimConnect. You need to get FSUIPC to show up in FSX.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
December 23, 200619 yr Hi,When you say reinstall Sim Connect, do you do that by reinstalling FSUIPC?Roy
December 23, 200619 yr Hi,No, by running the SimConnect.msi from the SDK folder or from DVD#1.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
December 25, 200619 yr Hi Jim,When I purchased FSX I didnt know there was a delaux issue out as well. Hence I dpont have the FSX deluxe version. I checked my DVD and no SimConnect.msi and of course only deluxe version has the SDK.However, I did find a SimConnect, msi file on the Internet from Microsoft dated 4/9/2006 which was for FSX release version. I have applied this so it should have reinstalled the dll file for SimConnect.I have also uninstalled firewalls, antivirus software (briefly) and antispyware software. For some reason still not getting FSUIPC in FSX. However, looking at the log file for installing FSX, I noticed that the file SimConnect.xml is missing. The XML file is required to add the menu isnt it?Could this be the problem? Even though it sais this is ok. A copy of the FSUIPC log is included below.I am currently checking through another forum where Peter Dowson (FSUIPC) is talking about the addon menu not showing. If you want to see it you will find his thoughts at http://forums.simflight.com/viewtopic.php?...der=asc&start=0I have checked my hard drive and cant find Simconnect.ini, simconnect.xml or a log for Simconnect anywhere. Maybe I need to invest in the deluxe version of FSX?RoyInstaller for FSUIPC4.DLL version 4.06Looking in registry for FSX install path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator10.0 Parameter"SetupPath"SetupPath="G:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesMicrosoft Flight Simulator X"Checking version of FSX.EXE:... December 25, 200619 yr Hi,No, SimCommect should be included in all versions of FSX. Until you get FSUIPC4 installed and showing, there isn't going to be any communication. Please keep working with Pete on this.Happy Holidays,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
December 25, 200619 yr Hi Jim,Some good news for xmax. I got it working.Thought I might add here what I did in case others have similar issues.I noticed that in the FSUIPC4 readme file, the opening paragraph read"BEFORE going on to install FSUIPC4, please note the following SEVEREproblems which have been reported by folks using third party firewall,anti-virus, privacy and other security programs. All of these stem from the SimConnect part of FSX, which FSUIPC4 and other add-ons use to talk to FSX. SimConnect uses the Internet TCP/IP protocol to talk to FSX, and the Security programs insert hooks into this path which can adversely affect SimConnect's operation."I noticed that SEVERE was in caps meaning this was indicating a lot of people had firewall issues. As soon as I read that it uses TCP/IP, I realised that the firewall was the issue. Even though I had uninstalled my firewall, and deactivated the windows firewall too, I still could not get FSUIPC4 working. This meant that SimConnect was still being blocked. At some stage my firewall has blocked Simconnect without telling me..... and even though I have removed the firewall, SimConnect is still blocked somehow. So I uninstalled FSX, removed the saved game files and then went to the folder in Microsoft Games and removed the remaining files in there too. Thus deleting all traces of FSX, Active sky and FSUIPC from my drives.Reinstalled FSX from scratch followed by FSUIPC without a firewall installed. Before installing Active Sky, I checked FSX to make sure that the "Add-Ons" menu was showing...which it finally was. When it came to installing ActiveSky, instead of pointing to c:/ActiveSky I pointed to the FSX folder.... as this seemed to be what the text in the message window was prompting when it mentions FS folder. Originally I left it as a folder called basefolder, and then a 2nd reinstall I tried putting it in a folder called ActiveSky...... but it works for me pointing it at the FSX folder itself. I should probably read the message boxes more. And now ActiveSky can see FSX.Thanks for the help there Jim and thanks for the great product. I can already see the difference in the weather and looking forward to doing some more flying.Roy
