January 12, 200719 yr Hi,I use Active Sky for all my flights, and I absolutely love it! If my internet connection happens to be down, I almost don't feel like using my sim anymore...One question though:I observed on days with heavy cloud cover, that at startup (as soon as clouds and weather are drawn in FS9), an overcast day really looks overcast, with heavy and dark clouds. After 20 seconds or so, the weather changes apruptly. The clouds are still there, but the sky does not look as dark anymore. There are even some places where I can see blue sky now.The first weather depiction is so much more realistic, but it's gone after 20 seconds!Who knows why that happens and how to give back the mean look to bad weather? Thanks in advance,Hans
January 12, 200719 yr Hi Hans,Thanks for writing and for the kind words. What could be happening is that your default flight has saved weather attached to it that you see and then the updated weather is processed and FS9 changes. For more on this we would need to see your ASv6.ini file, some screen shots if possible, and the METAR being used by Active Sky.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
January 12, 200719 yr Hi Jim,I will collect that info over the weekend. I just copy the METAR string right out of the AS window, right?I don't think that there is any saved weather with my flight. When AS starts my FS9, I get winds immediately, but the sky is cloudless. After a minute or so, the full weather scenario is drawn. The effect I tried to describe is a bit like there is a high overcast layer in the beginning, that makes the sky look gray and the lower clouds look very dark. After a short while, that upper layer disappears, some blue sky becomes visible and the clouds look less dark than before. All in all, bad weather looks much less "credible".I'll be back with screenshots (if the weather on the Shetlands has not changed too much since yesterday and I can reproduce the effect...)Best regards,Hans
