couple of offline mode questions

Featured Replies

I'm finally getting back into FS9 and AS6 after a long lay-off. I generally use offline mode, using archived downloads from earlier dates, and have a couple questions:1. If I download a previous-dated, archived weather set, are the corresponding historical TAFs also downloaded? If so, will having "TAF processing" checked allow those TAFs to be used?2. As you know, when weather is changing rapidly, there may be multiple "special" METARs issued between the normal hourly updates. I can catch one of these if I happen to "download current" weather at the right moment, but I haven't been able to get one if I download archived weather. The reason I ask is, I can look up the previous 7 days of METARs, including all "special" reports, on my local National Weather Service site (http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/mesowest/getobext.php?wfo=slc&sid=KOGD&num=168&raw=0&dbn=m). If I find a good, nasty weather report, I'll try to download the archive in AS, but I can only get the standard hourly reports, not the specials. Just wondering if this is normal behavior. Thanks!Dan

Hi Dan,Thanks for the questions!1. Yes, you are correct and the TAF will need to be newer then the METAR time in FS04.2. Yes, normal behavior because specials are very local and we are archiving the hourly reports. To use a special you could use the wx Configurator and copy and paste the METAR for that one station.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
