March 1, 200719 yr Today I updated AS6 and flew from Toronto to Detroit in both FS9 and FSX. Both sims displayed ground wind speeds of 90 at 14knts that were accurate according to AS6. In FS9 upon departure and as I ascended to 18000 ft the winds gradually shifted from 90 degrees to 176 to 238 at 38 matching exactly the winds aloft depicted and reported by AS6. In FSX making the same ascent to 18000 ft the winds pretty much stayed from the east 90 to 100 degrees and gradually increased in speed to 60 knots. Clearing weather in FSX and letting AS6 update still resulted in the same readings. Does anyone have any ideas as to what is happening here with the upper winds in FSX. Ive also noticed violent winds shifts in the upper winds and that the upper winds speeds and directions reported by AS6 are not even close to what Im experiencing in FSX on a regular basis. Is this a problem with FSX that will be fixed with the up coming patch? Don
March 2, 200719 yr Hi Don,Yes this is a known problem in FSX and we hope that SP1 will deal with it. There is no suppression of any kind and winds aloft are off. For more, please read the FSX compatibility document from Active Sky 6.We hope to have more on this in the near future.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
March 2, 200719 yr Thanks Jim for the quick reply. I was hoping the problem wasnt at my end. Interesting thou that Real Weather downloads in FSX with winds aloft engaged are bang on with results I got using AS6 and FS9 together. Lets hope they get it right with SP1 as it maybe a very long wait for SP2Don
