March 1, 200719 yr I have AS V6.51, MS .Net 1.1, FS9 running on decent modern hardware. When I start AS, I get the following (obtuse) error message:-------------------------- ASv6 (dialog box title)-------------------------- Run-time error '339': Component 'ChilkatZip2.dll' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid ------------ I OK I (the sole dialog option button) -------------------------------------------------------------Clicking 'OK' terminates the AS load sequence - this is a longway from OK, BTW.Any help is deeply appreciated,--Larry
March 2, 200719 yr Hi,Sorry for the problem. You need to do a repair install with your AntiVirus turned off. Then run AS. It could be that your AV is incorrectly flagging this file and removing it.Please let us know,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
March 2, 200719 yr Thanks for the timely response.Precisely how does one accomplish a "repair install"?--Larry
March 2, 200719 yr Hi,Run your setup.exe and choose Repair.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
March 2, 200719 yr Thanks Jim,That has turned the trick!Am I correct in assuming that I will also need to reinstall the March 1, '07 update as well? Thanks again,--Larry
March 2, 200719 yr Hi,See what Build number you have. If it is 536 then you are OK. A repair install should just fix missing/corrupt files.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
March 2, 200719 yr Hi Jim,Unfortunately, the exact same error has reappeared after I attempted to restart AS with FS9 running this morning. My AntiVirus stuff is:Avast! Home Edition antivirus (autoupdates quite frequently);ClamWin antivirus (updated whenever a new stable release appears); andSpyDefense Beta.Running "naked" (with these protections turned off) is just not an option for me - my server was virtually destroyed last year by an insidious worm ('Tenga').If only one DLL is involved, can't I just save a copy and rewrite it into the proper place when I wish to run AS?From what I have been able to see so far, ActiveSky appears to be a superb product and I am glad to have bought it.Many thanks,--Larry
March 2, 200719 yr Hi Larry,We do not want you to run unprotected, for sure. The problem is that one of those programs is incorrectly flagging that .dll and removing it. I use AVAST and it doesn't remove it. So, my suggestion is to see which program is automatically removing that file and set it up not to be removed or that your FS04 folder not be scanned. This is a situation that comes and goes, as that .dll is a legal file, but some spyware uses it also, and then security updates start to flag it in error.Hope this give you more to go on.Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
March 2, 200719 yr Thank you Jim,A 'false positive' sounds entirely probable...I have added ChilkatZip2.dll to the exclude lists of both Clamwin and AVAST. The SpyDefense Beta has no exclude provision, so if the problem recurs that will be the first place I will look.If the problem is eliminated, I will notify either AVAST.com or Clamwin support at Sourceforge as appropriate (so that bonafide apps aren't crippled).I want to again express my gratitude for the excellence of your product support. I was, at first, leery of the idea of a support forum but you have totally changed my opinion!I will post my findings.Best regards,--Larry
