How do I install AS on non-FS computer

Featured Replies

Hi,In response to my question about running ActiveSky on a computer without an internet connection (http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=171&topic_id=31844&mesg_id=31844&page=), Jim said to install ActiveSky on both my FS computer and my internet computer.Well, I bought AS but I haven't been able to install it the way Jim said to.I've installed AS on my FS computer ok, but when I try to install it on my internet computer (that doesn't have FS on it) AS asked me for my FS folder or a different folder for installation. It seemed to install OK into the folder I created just for installation purposes (D:ActiveSky) but now when I run AS on the internet computer I keep getting an error: AS asks for the 'personal Application Data folder (for FS9 wx mapping entries)'. No matter what folder I select (including the correct one for my logon on this computer) I get the error message 'Initialization Error reading files... Please verify your files or reinstall'What is the correct method for installing AS on a computer without FS or WideFS?Phil

P.S.I really just want to download ActiveSky weather files on my internet computer, and it seems dumb to install all of the ActiveSky files on a non-FS system just to do so. Why isn't there a way to do a direct download of the weather files?Phil

Well, I decided to try installing the latest ActiveSky patch over the apparently faulty install of AS on my non-FS computer (I hadn't been able to get AS to run at all - just an error dialog and immediate shutdown), and now I can download the weather updates. I was reluctant to try the patch in case it messed up the install process even more, but it seems the patch fixed the problem and everything is now hunky dory.Phil
