March 19, 200719 yr When I fly on VATSIM with a buddy, both of us with ActiveSky 6.5, both apparently using the same options and FSUIPC settings, both using FS9, we see fairly different winds aloft. For example, just now near Buffalo, he was seeing something like 324/60 and I 215/27. Refreshing makes no difference. The winds indicated under the nearest station do not agree, even if the METAR and timestamp do agree. What could be causing this? It is happening almost every flight for us. March 19, 200719 yr Hi Lee,That is a strange one. Please post your ASv6.ini file.If you can get your friend's ASv6.ini file that would be great also.In your connection software to VATSIM are both of you using Weather settings Off?Can you get a screen shot of your Active Sky and his Active Sky while at the same loaction?Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
March 20, 200719 yr Attached are the ASv6.ini files (and FSUIPC.ini files). There is also a "diff" output on the ASv6.ini files. Some differences I notice:Build 551 vs. 552, SuppressionCeiling 10000 vs. 3000, LocalSuppressionRange 100 vs. 60, AutoVas settings, Turbulence, plus some others. The next time we fly together online, I'll get screenshots of ASv6. Do you want the main display showing the closest METAR plus winds aloft?Lee Hetherington, PP-ASEL (KBED)
March 20, 200719 yr Hi,Thanks for those. Yes, the main screens of ACtive Sky.Thanks again,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
March 20, 200719 yr Would build 551 vs. 552 make any difference? Should I upgrade to 552 before we try again? Looking at the release notes, I don't see anything relevant.Lee Hetherington, PP-ASEL (KBED)
March 20, 200719 yr Hi Lee.I don't think so, but it is usually best to be running the latest version, especially when they are official versions.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
March 22, 200719 yr The next flight we did together, still the 551 vs. 552, the winds were completely consistent. Is there any chance at times the two different ActiveSky servers deliver different content, and with neither of us forcing a particular server we may have connected to different servers?I'll report back after another flight or two together, which may not be until next week some time.Thanks.Lee Hetherington, PP-ASEL (KBED)
March 22, 200719 yr Hi Lee,Yes, that is possible because the servers do update at different times, BUT if the METAR/TAF times are the same, then the data within should match also.Take your time. We always want to hear if there is a problem, but if things are going well, then we say that, "no news is good news".Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
