March 27, 200719 yr When running the installation program, it tries to install .NET Framework 1.1 even though 3.0 is part of Vista. 1.1 is not compatible with Vista so the installation fails and aborts. Is there any way to work around this?TIACrashGordon

I emailed you a screenshot of the incompatability message.
March 27, 200719 yr Hi,Please let us know if you find out anything from MS.Thanks!Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
March 27, 200719 yr I may have found an answer at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...DB-A83353618B38.NET 1.1 service pack 1 Compatibility with Vista Ultimate 64 bit is claimed. Now, I have to see how brave I feel about installing an incompatible 1.1 and then patching it.:-hang One other thought. Is AS 6.5 dependent on .NET1.1 or would it function with later versions (3.0 is included with Vista)? If the latter, why doesn't the install program detect the later version and not try to install the older version?
March 27, 200719 yr Hi,Because of when AS was written that was all we had. Not sure if a stand alone later version would work. With .NET, each version is a different standalone program.Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
March 27, 200719 yr When I get back (assuming I feel corageous) I will install 1.1 plus the service pack and see if anything explodes. As they used to say, film at 11.
March 27, 200719 yr After creating a restore peoint, in case anything went wrong, I installed 1.1 and the service pack. Vista complained about both having incompatibilies. I installed ASV and it started up. My only problem now is that I see no evidience of its connecting to FSX. I have the latest FSUIPC 4.x installed.I will go back over things and see if I missed something.
March 27, 200719 yr Hi,This is the first that you mentioned FSX and for FSX you are not going to be able to use ASG. Therefore, no version of .NET is needed.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

March 28, 200719 yr No problem. It let me have a bit of fun. I am going to try to figure out why AS6 and FSX aren't talking to each other. If I'm too dumb to grasp it, I'll let you know.
March 28, 200719 yr Hi,Did you re-install FSUIPC4?Do you have an Add Ons Menu in FSX and is FSUIPC an entry?Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
March 28, 200719 yr Jim,I think this one is my bad. FSX was one of the first things I installed after installing Vista on a new computer. I think I accidentally installed FSX using my admin account. I've come to that conclusion because I reinstalled FSUIPC4 and AS6 last night and noticed FSUIPC's install program looking for fsx.cfg in my admin user directory.I may have to start from scratch with FSX.
March 29, 200719 yr I hate replying to myself, but since you were so helpful, I figured I'd let you know. As I finally discovered, the FSX installation was actually fine. The problem was that for reasons I haven't figured out, FSUIPC was only looking for FSX files in my admin account, not my standard user account. On a hunch, I gave my user account admin privileges and deleted the old admin account. I reinstalled FSUIPC and FSX recognized FSUIPC and when I was ready to fly, was greeted with the AS display I remembered from FS9.I will probably wander over to the FSUIPC forum and see if there is a reason this happened. Thanks for your help.
