March 28, 200719 yr Hi,I've found what appears to be a glitch when using ActiveSky for offline weather. It seems that ActiveSky always uses the system time when deciding on a metar for the initial location in FS.For example, I have saved a flight that starts at 1000Z on March 19 at El Alto airport (SLLP) in Bolivia.I follow this procedure:1. Start ActiveSky paused.2. Load wx file 20070319_10Z_archive.dat3. Process the previously prepared flight plan (SLLP to SETN).4. Click 'Refresh' so ActiveSky can update the FS graphics while FS is closed.5. Start FS.6. Load the flight. The problem is that after the 'Refresh' button is clicked, ActiveSky immediately updates the weather for SLLP to the current system time. When I start FS and load the flight, the weather in SLLP does not revert to the weather for the current FS time, but stays at the wx for the future system time - in this case about 28104Z - apparently based on a TAF in the wx file.I tried waiting for several minutes, and I tried clicking the ActiveSky refresh button again, but the metar at SLLP remains at this future date. I've tried starting ActiveSky unpaused, but it didn't make any difference to this, and I need to start it paused anyway so it updates FS with the correct graphics.I have the 'Use System Time' option disabled. Perhaps ActiveSky needs an option to stop it from using system time at all - either use FS time if it's running, or don't update the weather if FS is not running.I have attached a couple of screenshots so you can see that the local metar is 9 days ahead of the wx file, both in ActiveSky's window and in FS.Any idea how to force ActiveSky to use the correct FS time for the local weather?Phil WrightBrisbane, Australia
March 28, 200719 yr Hi Phil,Thanks for writing. In Active Sky is Online Updates unchecked? Please let us know,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
March 28, 200719 yr Hi Jim,Yes, Online Updates is unchecked.I realised after posting my question that the delay in the local weather changing is probably due to local suppression, a feature I would like to keep enabled. If I wait 10 minutes or so (real time, not FS time) then the local weather updates to the correct metar. If I fly to another area, again the weather updates to the correct metar. I tried changing the FS time and date to see if that forces the use of a different metar, but it didn't.The basic problem isn't the local suppression, but the fact that AS sets the initial weather using system time rather than the time of the wx archive file - if we could just get AS to not update the initial metar to the system time in offline mode it would be fixed. Here's my ASv6.ini file in case it helps://ASv6.5 configuration file Build 552[General]WindowPosX = -13815WindowPosY = 885DefaultWeatherFolder = D:ActiveSkyWeather data filesSuppressionCeiling = 10000SurfaceWindLimit = 10FS9Path = D:FS2004PersonalAppDataFolder = C:Documents and SettingsAdministratorApplication DataCloudLayerLimit = 5LocalSuppressionRange = 60MinimumVisibility = 0MaximumVisibility = 59LastPlanFolder = C:Documents and SettingsAdministratorMy DocumentsFlight Simulator FilesAutoVasFrequency = 30AutoVasStrength = 30TurbulenceFrequency = DefaultStartupLocation = YBBNDefaultGraphicsFullTheme = Wx-InfluencedDefaultGraphicsCirrusTheme = Wx-InfluencedAutoSubmitGraphicsTheme = TrueIncreasedWake = FalseDisableWindsAloft = FalseForcePrimaryServer = FalseForceSecondaryServer = FalseGEProAutoSubmit = FalseUseFetchedStationforGEPro = TrueShowDecodedMBasDecimal = FalseSkyOverride = GEPROFavorCumulus = FalseForceRoutePressure = FalseForceLowestCeiling = FalseUnpauseOnReadyStatus = FalseDisableWriteThrottle = FalseDisableProcessThrottle = FalseForceTstormsWithCB = TrueAutoSetFSTime = FalseIgnoreFSLocationUntilReady = TrueAutoConvertPlanFiles = TrueAutoRefreshAI = TrueDisableVisGraduation = FalseEnableGEProWideFSMode = FalseExtendedThrottling = FalseForceRouteAloftTemp = FalseOfflinePlayback = TrueEnableVAS = TrueAutoGenVAS = TrueForceDestinationWeatherZone = FalsePreventIcing = FalseOnlineUpdates = FalseExtendedDestinationWindsForce = FalseDisableAllGroundUpdates = FalseGlobalWrites = TrueDepictFS9HazeLayer = FalseExtendTstormLayers = TrueDisableDirectWindControl = FalseVoicePlayback = FalseLocalSuppression = TrueStartupSound = FalseDisableGroundUpdates = FalseUseProxyServer = FalseFogLayerGeneration = TrueUpdateSuppression = FalseOvercastEnhancement = TrueIgnoreFSReadyStatus = FalseFSUIPCWindSmoothing = TrueLimitSurfaceWinds = FalseLimitCloudLayers = TrueAutoGlobalWriteToggle = TrueRainWithTS = TrueDisableUpperLayerGeneration = FalseVisibilitySmoothing = TrueDisableMessages = FalseAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueUpdateInterval = 10VATSIMData = FalseZuluConversion = 10AloftPredictability = 80WindDriftRate = 0MaxCloudThickness = 10000MinStratusSeparation = 7000TAFProcessing = TrueEnforceVisibilityLimits = TrueWakeTurb = FalseStartPaused = TrueUseSystemTime = FalseDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONEThanks again,Phil WrightBrisbane, Australia
