AS6.5 Not Connecting on client pc

Featured Replies

I've just hit a brick wall. I decided since I had an extra computer laying around that I would attempt to network it together and use ActiveSky over widefs. So, I followed the big post as best as I could. WideFS will connect over the network. All logs show no issues as far as I can tell. I can open files on both sides. My XP Media version will not let me share my program files folder - period. So I had to create a different map starting at the Microsoft games folder so that I could reach the fs9 folder without any problems. Here's the process I go through to start it all up. I opened AS6.5 on the client pc. Open fs9 on the server pc. Then open widefs client on the client pc. This is where some issues begin to surface. When I go to import a flight plan through the new route button I get an error message pertaining permissions and network setup. I just tried using Active AirSource and it didn't detect a fs9 session at all. I just realized that I cannot delete files off of the server from the client pc. I have double and tripled check all the permissions. There is something I am missing and I am hoping someone will no what it is. Thanks in advance.

Hi Anthony,Try sharing your Documents and Settings folder. For AAS, make sure your firewalls are allowing access.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

Do you mean actually making a separate map of that folder? It seems to me that my after my wideclient is connected that any programs I use aren't seeing fsuipc through the wide client. I have my fs installed on my c: drive. So I have a map for the c drive and a map for the microsoft games/fs9 directory since I can't share the program files directory. I even went as far as to share each folder from documents and settings all the way down to the fs9 files and have had no luck. I am beginning to wonder if it isn't my stupid dsl "router" thingy causing problems. I just find it weird that the client and server connect fine its just the programs on the client pc not finding any active fsuipc session. If you want Jim feel free to pm through the AS forums.

Well, I had another go at it. Now the only problem I have is that my applications on the client pc can't see an active session of FSUIPC running. I haven't the slightest clue.

Anthony,Run everything again, close everything down, and then post your wideclient and wideserver logs.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

Thanks again Jim!

I think I'm on to something now. I reinstalled ActiveSky on the server pc because I wanted to get some flying done. Come to find out that fsuipc isn't being found by applications on my server pc. I tried to open up AAS and it couldn't find fsuipc. Do you think maybe its an issue with my registration key(s)? Would the fsuipc.ini show anything to that regard if that was the issue?

Boom! Got it figured out! Thank for all you help Jim!
