Soaring

I would like to try soaring in FSX. I don't think the vertical air movement option in Active Sky 6.5 works in FSX, is that correct? Can you still creates thermals in FSX with Active Sky? I've tried getting FSX to create thermals but they are too few and far inbetween. In real life on a convective day thermals are numerious and in all directions. Can this be created in FSX? Can you create ridge soaring conditions with Active Sky? If so how? Thanks

Hi,Thanks for writing. No you are right, just through FSX for now. We are working on this for the future!Anything else would need to be worked out in FSX.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

Does the "Create Thermal" work?

Well then, I have to agree with some of the other posts that wonder if Active Sky is worth purchasing for FSX. With so many options disabled I would say at this point it is not worth purchasing.

Hi,Whether I agree or not is not important here. What is important is that everyone realizes that Active Sky 6.5 was never designed with FSX in mind. In fact AS6.5 was hardly re-programmed for FSX. All of that is being channeled into ASNext. The few changes we did make was to allow AS6.5 to work as a weather generator for FSX, which it still does rather well! Yes, you can say that "this doesn't work," or "that isn't right", but we can only do so much with older programming and a new platform. Also, there are all the FS04 users who still need to use AS for their weather, so we couldn't "break" anything for them. Lastly, there are some internal problems in FSX that were hindering some of the things. Those are also being worked on for ASNext. As I posted in that other thread, if someone is strictly using FSX, then wait for ASNext. If a person is using both FSX and FS04 and will continue to do so, then AS6.5 could be a good purchase.Thanks!Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
