April 11, 200719 yr Hello,i have the settings position on max for the weather realism in Fs like in Active skyand i'm so surprise that the turbulences in thunderstorm are really sweet !and the nasty sweet turbulences come only under the rain,so i can go through it without any damage or problem with a Cessna 172 for exemple, imagine that in the real life !!!So is there a solution to increase the turbulences in thunderstorm to have a real dangerous situation ???it will be so great...Thanks for your answerRegardsLknfly LFPL
April 11, 200719 yr Hi,You would need to start to adjust the turbulence_scale value in the FS9.cfg file. Default is one and increasing this value will increase the turbulence. A value of 3 causes turbulence all this time. Keep in mind that this causes turbulence all the time, not just in clouds!Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
April 11, 200719 yr Thanks Jim for your reply so quicly....Well like you said i tried to increase the turbulence scale value but you right it cause turbulence all time and it is not realistic...i am a fidel customer of AS from the begenning and i appreciate all the frequents updates, really great work i hope that one of the next update will considere the weather about the turbuelence in thunderstorm, because it is too much easy to fly in this condition...ThanksLkn
April 15, 200719 yr Hello, Couldn't help to ask. Did you try 2? Did that also cause turbulance outside of the thunderstorm clouds? I would be interested in pumping mine up also just don't wanna be getting outrages turbulence going thru a slight cloud layer in general. Just thunderstorms. So i guess my question is how would pumping it up to 2 treat me in a light cloud layer? Thanks, Josh
April 17, 200719 yr I also agree, there is not enough scary turbulence where there should be. One area that is really lacking is the mountains, would love to see more detailed mountain weather other than just weak up and downdrafts, mountain weather is alot more than that. Hopefully we can see this improved. And I would love to see some more realistic higher level clouds like cirrostratus at fl 360 and real t storms, meaning the ones that go up into the 50's and more.
April 17, 200719 yr Hi Mike,You can create some thermal points and experiment with the data values if you wish.As far as the towering storms. We can do this, but the weather conditions need to be right. Summertime in the Central USA and the mountains in Asia I have seen them.Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
April 17, 200719 yr Alright, but what I mean is automatic turbulence generation, such as when there are strong winds there should be a rotor accompanied by a downdraft on the lee side of a ridge if the wind is perpendicular to the ridge, with the intensity controlled by the wind speed. Other things such as the cumulous like clouds that form when lifting air flows over a ridge and forms a cloud as it cools and expands that hovers over the top of the ridge. And one of the biggest thing I would hope to see sometime in the future is mountain wave activity. All of these things are a fact of life in the mountains and it is something all mountain pilots have to deal with. Realistic mountain weather and more high clouds are the only things in my opinion that this great product lacks, just some constructive criticism for ya ;).
