WideFS/AS and Dropped Weather

Featured Replies

I have the latest versions. I have noticed that after flying for some time (it's random), the weather drops out from the clients. I have to manually refresh the weather to have the 2 clients display the weather. When this fails, I have to close and restart WideFS and AS. The default fs9 weather does port the weather properly to the clients. I would appreciate any suggestions--I have been through the fsuipc/widefs and AS documentation--the problem persists--Thanks, rw

Hi RW,What do you mean by "drops out"? The weather goes clear? The weather doesn't update? The connection between server and clients stops?Where is Active Sky installed? What is installed on the clients that you need updated weather on the clients? Please let us know,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

Thanks for your response. The weather is "lost" (not updated) on the clients (2 PCs running fs9). The server weather continues to change. A refresh or restart resolves the problem. The network connections are intact (the server "sees" all clients including a separate client that is running AS). The clients are only running fs9 and WideView via the server (IPX protocal). WideFS/AS is TCP. The drives are mapped from the AS client to the fs9 server. Hope this helps-- rw

Hi RW,OK, a few things here:Using WideView, there is no easy way to update weather. No, it is not being updated through WideFS. The only way to update weather using WideView is to purchase a copy of AS for every machine and run AS on each machine. What you are seeing is the updating of the visuals through WideView, not the actual weather conditions. That is why the server is showing the correct weather, but the clients are not. There have been other discussions of this and this is what everyone has found.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

Thanks--I suspected as much-- rw
