I am assuming you're joking but for the uninformed, it allows Flight Simulator to get closer to as Real As It Gets by allowing us developers access to the internals of the simulator. Without this in between interface you wouldn't have a lot of the add on utilities that make enhancements to the core "simulation" or "game" for those that prefer that route.
