February 4, 200818 yr Hi,It is the DRSN code. That code means that snow is not necessarly falling, but is being blown around. That is why snow does not fall in FS with this code.Thanks!Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
February 5, 200818 yr Author Hello Jim,thank your for your answer. But still i`m not really shure that the weather generation at this aiport works right.Look at this iwas information:USNN 051800Z 20006MPS P6000 -SHSN BKN030CB +RA OVC066 M11/M13 Q1015 NOSIG RMK QFE756 SC05I see no snow falling. Now look here (It`s an airport approximately 90nm west of USRR): USRR 051800Z 22004G07MPS 4000 -SHSN SCT016CB SCT053 M10/M11 Q1011 RESN TEMPO 1200 SHSN BKN007 RMK QFE753 IPZ 25////50Here i can see snow. Both airports have the same indication -SHSN.Do you have an explanation for this or is there any setting in AS that i have to change?I have to add that i`m using an addon airport but also with default scenery it is the same problem.Hope you can help me, thank you.//Dotti
February 5, 200818 yr Author Hi,one more thing i forgot to mention (i did in the other thread, the link is in my first post) that if i move my point of view just a little bit up, e.g if i`m in the spot view i see the snow but not if my viewpoint is on the ground or in the cockpit. Now the iwas says:USNN 052100Z 21006MPS 4800 -SN OVC066 M12/M14 Q1015 NOSIG RMK QFE756 SC046From the cockpit: no snowIn spot view a few feet above the ground: snowDo you know what could be the problem or what could cause this strange behavour? It`s the same problem with no addon scenery.//Dotti
February 5, 200818 yr Hi,I think the problem is the fact that FS04 does not recognize USNN as a weather station. No matter what I tried, I could not get the correct weather to show up here. That includes clouds and pressure.Go the the FS weather map and see that USNN is not a station.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
February 5, 200818 yr Author Hi,thanks for clarifying. Makes sence. But what about the problem in my previous post?Because it looks like the weather is generated properly but it is only visible if you move your eyepoint up a few feet? Are you able to reproduce this effect?Thank you.//Dotti
February 6, 200818 yr Hi,Yes, but the same thing happens if you slew into town and sit on the ground. Snow kicks in if I slew a bit up.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
February 6, 200818 yr Author Hi,thank you for your answer but i still don`t understand it.For me it looks like that the weather is properly generated but you can see it only a few feet above the ground.Shouldn`t AS show the weather all the way down to the ground? When i disconnect AS and set up some snow manually in the wather menue of FS it works good.//Dotti
February 6, 200818 yr Author Hi Jim,is it possible for you to check this thread:http://www.protu-154.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8293Another user with the same problem has posted two screenshots where the problem is visible which i tried to discribe above. It shows clearly that the weather is generated by AS but only visible starting from 15ft above the ground upwards.Hope this helps you to find a solution for this.//Dotti
February 6, 200818 yr Hi,Bottom line: it is a bad weather station in FS. How do I know? I went and sat at the airport with AS closed, downloaded FS weather, and it was wrong.I then went to custom weather and set my own conditions, one of them being heavy snow. I went back into FS04. On the ground NONE of the conditions were correct: the visibility, precipitation, the cloud layers, pressure; all were wrong. To get the correct conditions I needed to slew up to around 230 feet and then all of a sudden, everything was correct. So it is a bad station for ground weather with or without Active Sky.I had already visited your link when you posted it the first time!Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
February 7, 200818 yr Author Hi,thank you very much for your investigation and detailed explanation. Now it`s much clearer to me. So i think i have to live with it as it seems that it is a problem of FS. Or shall i send an email to Bill Gates if he can help me? :-)Thank you again for your help and best regards,//Dotti
