Real weather generated Icing Does not work with ASX & F...

Featured Replies

I have been using FSMeteo and FSUIPC registered version ever since I got FSX/Accel Pack. I decided to purchase ASX because I was slightly unhappy with the icing generation in FSMeteo/FSUIPC.I did as much research as I could before buying ASX, and as far as I read, ASX is supposed to create Icing when using ASX real world weather..Well... I just spent the last 3 hours in cloud layers and snow with temp levels anywhere between 18 F to -6 f trying to get the darn plane to ice up with ASX and FSX.. I even switched the settings in ASX to maximum icing on both ASX setting, "Minimum Cloud Icing" and "Maximum Cloud Icing" and also switched off any conflicting weather settings on FSUIPC. Still no icing at all...What do I have to do to get ASX generate simulated icing levels when using Real World Weather?JB

When you mean the other way around, are you saying people are having problems keeping the aircraft from icing up?No I was using the Carenado 206 and the plane does experience icing effects since I have checked by creating custom weather with severe icing and flown into it, resulting in the engine stalling die to icing...I left pitot heat off to see if the Pitot would ice up and got nothing... Again, if I create custom weather with icing on via the default FSX weather/custom/advanced menu I can get the pitot to ice up.No, ofcourse I'm not expecting ice to build up on the plane... Just expecting to see the FSX Effects of icing... It would be nice to just be able to get the pitot to ice up.Lemme ask you a question... If ASX is working correctly... and hypothetically if ASX has generated icing for a particular cloud layer.. And if I goto world/weather/custom/advanced menu, shouldn't that cloud layer show icing in the icing selection box? Isn't that what ASX is doing, just putting entries into the user custom weather settings to change the sim weather? If so, I have checked over and over again flying in Alaska in cloud layers that should contain icing, based on temp levels and cloud type... So why is this not working for me? I mean, ASX changes every other setting of the weather, just no icing.JB

Hi JB,Correct, usually too much icing effect. Please test with a default plane.Honestly not sure about custom weather box.Something I want you to try: Copy your FSUIPC.ini file out and then reset FSUIPC to default setting and weather settings off and then try a fight with a default plane.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
