March 5, 200323 yr I hope someone can help me with this... I was flying around Norway, had a flight from Torp to Kjevik. However, the compass was of little use to me. It showed a 40 - 50
March 6, 200323 yr the B-25 has several gauges to assist with navigationthe Remote Reading Compass Indicatorindicates magnetic headingor you can use the Directional Gyrothe Radio Compass can be tuned for ADF directionthe PDI used with Nav 1 tuned to an active VORthe enlarged Captain's panel also has a DMEJohn
March 6, 200323 yr To answer your other question, about how to tell what magnetic drift is, the unfortunate answer is "you can't - easily".In the real world, the poles are constantly moving around the region and the magnetic variance (the difference as registered by a compass) is shown on Nav charts. The only chart I have ever seen of the FS magentic fields was in an old book for FS5.1CD... There must be a way of telling it some way from FS, though, so I'll have a look around and, if I find anything, I'll post details here.Cheers,Ian P.:-halo
March 9, 200323 yr mmmm.... there is way that doesn't include the use of real world maps (as I fly all over the world, it would be a bit expensive to get all these maps)... there's a document at http://www.flight-sim.net/Practice.htm which describes two methods (one using a GPS, the other using the FS2002 internal map). However, both methods require you to be flying already. So, instead I'll take sneak peeks at the info line to determine local deviation. Thanks for your help, guys!Gert
