March 9, 200323 yr Hi all,I received the B-25J BT CD a few days ago. What a fantastic plane. The attention to detail is incredible. However, there are some things regarding the cockpit views that were not to my liking. Just a martter of taste, of course. No criticism.1. When looking forward right- or forward-left in 2D mode the horizon was too low, certainly when compared to the forward view. I saw that this was deliberately set in the panel.cfg file. Perhaps to have a better view in turns. I like it differently.2. When switching to 3D (VC) mode I found myself floating above the plane when looking forward-left and forward-right. Moving down affected all other views, so I had to return to default viewing position when, e.g. looking forward again. What I did is modify the panel.cfg file. The way I use the panel now is in 2D mode, but ... I wanted to have the beautiful working virtual cockpit in forward left and forward-right view, without having to switch to 3D mode. The available 2D views are a piece of art, but I like operating gauges. So now I have 2D with working switches when looking forward, but VC views when looking forward-left and forward-right. Looking in the other directions gives a combination of 2D panels and aircraft exterior. If you are interested in using my configuration, I could copy my panel.cfg in this thread, if I get permission by the B-25J team to do so. The only thing you will have to do is adding a dummy bmp file called DUMMY.bmp, which is 1024x768 pixels and that is completely black (0,0,0), to the panel folder of the B-25.
