May 5, 200323 yr Hi,I was hoping any of you "panel gurus" might be able to help me with this question:I am using FS_Meteo for getting real weather conditions into MSFS. I would like to add the Weather Gauge as a pop-up window in BT. But all the available "slots" (SHIFT-1 through SHIFT-9) are taken in BT. Is there any other way of adding the Weather Gauge, and assigning it to e.g. SHIFT-0?Any input would be much appreciated.Best Regards,-- Stefan
May 6, 200323 yr Hi Stefan,There is a way of allocating more pop-up windows than the default keys will allow, but you will not be able to access your creation through a keystroke.Any additional windows you add, above that accessible by shift-9, will still work but you can only open or close them by icon or via the "view" drop-down menu. What you could do is, say, add another simicon up a corner of the panel somewhere and use that to call your new window? The default throttle quadrant simicon would seem a good bet, as that is not already used.Any use to you?Ian P.:-halo
May 6, 200323 yr Hi Ian,Thank you for your reply. Yes, that seems as what I would like to achieve. But please bear with me, since I have no experience what-so-ever how to go about in this kind of matters. So, in panel.cfg, I add{Window Title}... window09=Weather Display......{Window09}file=fs_meteo.bmpsize_mm=220,248windowsize_ratio=1position=0visible=0ident=125gauge00=fs_meteo, 0, 0,220... This far, everything is fairly clear to me.Now is when I'm getting out on deep water, though. Let's say I want to add a new icon, e.g. in the AC's main panel ({Window00}), placing it in the upper, left-hand-side corner. So, I "borrow" it from one of the FS2k2 default aircraft, and add it to the {Window00} section of BT's Panel.cgf file. Something like this......gauge30=SimIcons!ECU Icon, 0, 0...where the "0, 0" is the co-ordinates where I want to place it.I don't get my new icon to show up on the BT main panel. Obviously, I am doing something wrong here. Furthermore, how do I "tell" FS what I want it to do, when I click my newly added icon - namely open the {Window09}?(N.B. I have substituted the square brackets in the above examples with curly brackets, in order not to confuse the forum server, which use square brackets for html.)The Weather Panel is now selectable through the Views-Instrument panel menu, although it does only show up as a brown rectangle, not displaying the gauge itself. :-hmmmCheers,-- Stefan
May 7, 200323 yr Ian,After writing my reply, and getting some sleep ( :-doh), I double-checked my panel.cfg file before going to work, and found that the missing weather gauge on the brown slate was the result of an omitted space between the zeros. I could have kicked myself... :-).[http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/7974.jpg]Although, still no sign of the new icon. Could you help me with that, please?Cheers,-- Stefanhttp://forums.avsim.com/user_files/7974.jpg
May 7, 200323 yr Hi Stefan,It might be tomorrow before I can post a reply, but I will take a look and get back to you.Sorry for the brief delay!Ian P.:-halo
May 7, 200323 yr Okay, ignore my last... Dinner got delayed, so I did some panel bashing on BT. Nobody tell Russ! :-hahAnyway, I have got both the SimIcon to appear and to call a subpanel (in my case the RealityXP GNS530, because I don't have any add-on weather packages...)These are my settings:-- --{Window Titles}.........Window09=THROTTLE_PANEL (You'll see why, shortly...)...{Window00}.........gauge30=SimIcons!ECU Icon 70, 530, 100...{Window09}......ident=THROTTLE_PANEL......-- --I see you have the {Window09} bit working already, so no need to play with that, but the ident must be as I have typed above for the whole tweak to work! ;-)The SimIcon appears as an unobtrusive little square to the two o'clock of the existing SimIcons, above the non-functional "STATIC" switch.Unfortunately, because we're cheating a little and using a default icon rather than coding our own, we have to use the icon's existing code to call our subpanel. The ECU Icon's code calls a subpanel "THROTTLE_PANEL", so that's what we have to call ours. It isn't a problem, as long as you can cope with having both a Quadrant and a Panel and remember which one is which! :-);-)Anyway, that is working on mine. Give it a go and let me know how you get on.Good luck!Ian P.:-halo
May 7, 200323 yr Ian,It works! :-jumpyThank you very much for your help. I think I'll take my newly Weather Display equipped BT for a spin around the Stockholm area right away, since there is wonderful VFR flight weather outside...Regards,-- Stefan
