June 29, 200322 yr Hi Bill, I re-installed my(our) lovely R4D-6 in FS2002 and enjoying the flights but I do have one question to ask. Why is the R4D-6 located in the UNSPECIFIED spot when I try to load it? I thought it would/should be located under DOUGLAS. I suspect I have something wrong in one of my R4D-6 CFG files but I thought I'd ask you before changing any of the files. Thanks
June 29, 200322 yr Hi Blais,This can be fixed with a quick edit in the aircraft.cfg - simply add the lines:ui_manufacturer=Douglasui_type=R4D-6ui_variation=NATSunder the (fltsim.0) section and, if you want it to be recognised by ATC, add:atc_type=Douglasatc_model=DC3to the (general) section. That should solve all your problems.I don't know what 50819's "N" registration is (Bill?) so I have also addedatc_id=819atc_airline=Navyto (fltsim.0) so when I am flying, I am referred to as "Navy Eight One Niner"... That bit is optional! :-hahAs this forum will try and turn square brackets into HTML tags, obviously you need to replace the ( and ) with square brackets as appropriate! ;o)(Okay, that took three goes at posting before I gave up trying to figure out how to post them... ;-) )Hope that helps.Ian P.:-halo
June 29, 200322 yr Hi Everyone, I suspect that the cause of my R4D mess occurred during the recent re-installation of FS2002 and the R4D-6 CD & upgrades. Here's the scoop: When I look at the FS2002AIRCRAFT folder I have two entries for the R4D. They are:Douglas R4D-6 NATS v4.0Douglas R4D-6 Now when I bring up FS2002 and select AIRCRAFT I have two entries also. The first one under DOUGLAS which displays:MODEL R4D-6VARIATION NATSand under UNSPECIFIED I have:MODEL DOUGLAS R4D-6 NATS v4.10VARIATION Default I have no idea, at this time, what the heck is going on. Can anyone tell me what my up-to-date FS2002 version should be?Regards
July 18, 200322 yr There are several ways of changing the location of any a/c in FS2002. (1) One way is to fly the R4D from its home field to your no location and save the flight. (2) Another is to fly and park one of the existing FS2K2 a/c from the field you want to make your R4D home. Save the flight as Cessna Home or Cessna KBLI (my field in Bellingham, WA). Be sure you park in a large enough space to handle the R4D, usually a commercial parking area. Then print out the cfg for your saved flight. Find the section the carries the coordinates of your parking place and all other pertinant data concerning its location. Then insert that informatin into the R4D cfg for its home field and save it as a saved flight with an appropriate name, i.e., R4D KBLI. (3) If you have installed the R4D properly you should be able to SELECT your a/c as Douglas/R4D???; SELECT your air field; SELECT the starting location (parked, straight out, etc) and your ready to fly.I flew the BT B-25, first from its home base, then from Bellingham on my second flight. Thus far everything seemed to work. These procedures will work on any a/c in FS2K2 if their cfg files meet the MS standards.heyrev
