January 12, 200422 yr Could someone explain to me the conditions in which I would need to feather the props? I understand the machanics of feathering, however I do not have a grasp on the physics, therefore I do not understand the conditions for feathering. Thanks
January 12, 200422 yr Well basically, if you have an engine failure in flight, the prop blades will cause a lot of drag and therefore pull towards the dead engine requiring a great deal of opposite rudder pressure and/or rudder trim to stop this. The act of feathering turns the prop blades so they are more streamlined to the airflow and therefore reduce the drag.RegardsTim http://www.spottedantelope.com/bwomack/ima...aam-sim_sig.gif
