May 13, 200521 yr Hi everyone,Am busy working on my first repaint and decided on doing the South African Airforce Dakota in the standard camo scheme. Still lots to do though, but I'm (sort of) happy with the progress so farhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/116202.jpgBestErich Berner
May 13, 200521 yr Hi Erich, beautiful repaint! I hope it's 6832? - the most famous SAAF Dakota in the world?I wish we had some more of these beautiful Dakota's left in SA, we have just one flying - 6859, and we are still trying to get 6832 restored. The others have all gone to turbines or sold privately.Regards, Ian
May 13, 200521 yr Hi IanI grew up very close to Ysterplaat AFB, although now reside in London. If I recall, 6832 transported the jurassic fish at some point - don't ask me to spell it! Is 6832 now part of the SAAF museum at FAYP? If so, I saw it on a recent visit to the museum in February, where she looked like she was having an extreme makeover (or in need of one).My scheme isnt currently 6832, but I'm sure I can do something about that. :-) I also plan to do the marine schemes.Best Erichhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/116304.txt
May 15, 200521 yr Hi Erich - 6862 is in a restorable condition and the people that love her will do anything in their power to get her flying again. She is still at ysterplaat. I have cataloged this plane at: http://www.iannel.za.net/osic/index.php?ac...gue_id=1&iid=37The other remaining SAAF (Piston) Dakota is 6859, at Swartkops. Your repaint looks very good, I'll show it to the SAAF friends organisation when released.Good luck, Ian
