March 21, 200719 yr For those who haven't tried it, KRDG - as supplied on the MAAM-SIM CD for FS2004 and available also from Avsim.com - seems to blend in nicely with FSX. Give it a go, and report here if you find any issues, if you would. Hangar doors work as they should. I haven't personally tried every combination of lighting and weather, nor done a full analysis of AI etc., but at least it shows up and gives you somewhere to park your extensive MAAM-SIM fleet! You do have an extensive MAAM-SIM fleet, right? :)http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/168899.jpgAerial viewhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/168898.jpgWet day at Spaatzhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/168897.jpgDropping in at the Pagodahttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/168896.jpgBuzzing the traffic on the local expresswayMarkMark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cx.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/avsimlogo.jpg[/a] _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
March 21, 200719 yr Looks good from here. In the first shot, the road that crosses the plowed fields does not look right, but no big deal. I checked one of my Anchorage sceneries in FSX and the roads did not match at all, so I took them out.
March 21, 200719 yr Author Thanks, John. Yes, there are a couple of mismatches around the border. I might do the same exercise in FS2004, later, just to see what has changed there. But basically, the colours fit well enough and from the usual viewpoints (cockpit, spot on arrival maybe) most things seem to blend reasonably well.In due course, I'm sure we can call in the council to fix those roads and streams!I'm talking to THE John Woodward, am I not, given that you mention your Lake Hood work? What news of your fine aircraft creations, for FSX? Upgrading?MarkMark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cx.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/avsimlogo.jpg[/a] _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
March 22, 200719 yr Author Just for interest, a similar top-down shot of the KRDG scenery in FS9, for comparison. The roads certainly work better. I have mesh installed for Pennsylvania and so what you're looking at here is not pure default surroundings.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/168949.jpgMarkMark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cx.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/avsimlogo.jpg[/a] _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
March 22, 200719 yr I can tell you've got a add-on mesh for that FS9. I've installed KRDG on my FS9 with the default terrain mesh and it matches much better than this. I don't have the "tabletop" effect that I see here and the textures and roads match almost perfectly. I think the only error I've found is the perimeter road crosses a perimeter fence out at the west end of the airport.
March 22, 200719 yr Author Yep, such is the curse of some of the addon meshes. I suppose this could all be fixed with flattens, but I've never messed about with it. As long as the runway is in the right place.... :)MarkMark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cx.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/avsimlogo.jpg[/a] _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
