FSX: Airport baggage carts fix (sinking into ground)

Featured Replies

Hello, after a lot of trial and error, I found a solution to a graphics glitch I recently discovered. It's about the baggage carts (the trailer vehicles that move to your plane when you open the cargo doors). There are 4 models used, two US style vehicles and 2 flatnose Euro style vehicles. One of each type had the problem. It was caused to faulty contact point data in the corresponding sim.cfg file. The resulted was vehicles that "sink" into the ground like this:cargo_vehicle_glitch.jpgWhen I noticed that some cart versions did not sink and some did, I thought I should look for the problem and if it can be fixed by simply changing some configuration files. The baggage carts are found in these directories:..Microsoft Flight Simulator XSimObjectsGroundVehiclesVEH_air_bagcart1..Microsoft Flight Simulator XSimObjectsGroundVehiclesVEH_air_bagcart_FlatNosed..Microsoft Flight Simulator XSimObjectsGroundVehiclesVEH_air_bagcart_blue_sm..Microsoft Flight Simulator XSimObjectsGroundVehiclesVEH_air_bagcart_FlatNose_Gray_sm VEH_air_bagcart1 and VEH_air_bagcart_FlatNosed are alright and don't need fixing. However, Microsoft screwed the contact point data for the other 2. I don't know why, but I found some values that work fine and which fix the problem. Each cart is configured it its directory by a file called sim.cfg.So, to fix this sinking, following files have to be changed:..Microsoft Flight Simulator XSimObjectsGroundVehiclesVEH_air_bagcart_FlatNose_Gray_smsim.cfgBackup the original file and then change following data in the original sim.cfg:wheel_radius=2.08static_pitch=0.0 static_cg_height=1.995 Change these to:wheel_radius=2.4static_pitch=0.0static_cg_height=3.2..Microsoft Flight Simulator XSimObjectsGroundVehiclesVEH_air_bagcart_blue_smsim.cfgBackup the original file and then change following data in the original sim.cfg:wheel_radius=1.685static_pitch=0.0 static_cg_height=2.13Change these to:wheel_radius=2.38static_pitch=0.0static_cg_height=3.1This gave me these results:cargo_vehicle1_corrected.jpgcargo_vehicle2_corrected.jpgNo more sinking into the ground. Some feedback if this problem occurs with all versions would be great. As described above, it only occurs with the dark grey flatnose vehicle and with the blue US style vehicle.

KEYWORDS: bagcart | baggage cart | contact points | ground | FSX(couldn't edit my first post anymore)

Update:In the walkthrough and in the file I uploaded yesterday, the directory name is given with"VEH_air_bagcart_FlatNose_Gray_sm" instead of"VEH_air_bagcart_FlatNose_Grey_sm"In case of the zip-file, it's in both the file structure and the readme.txt.This is no problem as long as you copy the sim.cfg into the right directory / edit the sim.cfg in the correct folder. The sim.cfg itself and the values above are alright and work ok.There might be an updated file / update to the uploaded file. But as long as you follow the instructions, it can't go wrong, as the misspelled directory doesn't exist. You will only find the correct one.
