ATI Control Panel fails to load after driver update... Ideas?

Featured Replies

Howdie Folks,Got me a bit of a strange one here. Until the release of the ATI 4.3 Catalyst drivers, i have been using the Omega drivers on my ATI Radeon 9700 Pro card. No probs using that driver, but when i tried to update and try the 4.3 from ATI on reboot, I get the windows error message saying the ATI Control Panel fails to load.Tried various options to try and solve the problem. Installing the driver first then the CP seperately but what ever combination i try it still fails to load.I have even gone back to the initial drivers supplied with the card (which will load the control panel) and then trying to upgrade... but no luck.Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? My system is a Dell 2.8ghz with a pretty standard bunch of additional hardware. It would be very much appreciated if anyone can suggest anything that might let me solve this issue.RgdsAidihttp://www.vfr-flightcenter.com/avsim_sig.jpg

Hi AidiAfter I uninstall the old ATI stuff I open the registry and under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARE delete the ATI entries, usually there are two of them. If you feel uncomfortable deleting them just put an "x" or something before each one. I've never used the Omega drivers so the entries (if there) may be different but probably are obvious. Uninstalling NVidia drivers also leaves entries here, which I also delete. Hope this helps.David
