Force Feedback Pro - power issue

When I view Properties on my FF Pro stick I get an instant error message saying that the power is not connected. IT IS! The green LED is on and steady. This coincides with having installed a new motherboard - Gigabyte GA-7N400E-L and a new Gigabyte Radeon 96S128D graphics card which is 8x AGP. I am certain that the joystick is OK but that it is incompatible with these new components. I have totally formatted my C drive and installed a clean W98 4.10 1998. I've also searched MS site for an answer and I have upgraded driver to V3.02 all to no avail. I have removed the drivers and the component in C-panel Display and reloaded them four or five times. The game port if activated in CMOS and shows with no problems in CP as does the joystick for that matter even though it is high and dry. I wish to use it with FS 2002 and European Air War but cannot of course right now.Does anyone know what I can do even if I have to buy a new "modern" joystick.
