June 12, 200421 yr Has anyone tried these yet( leaked betas?)- they are available at http://www.guru3d.com I've just installed them- difficult to be totally objective but I think fps is up very slightly but not to sure about the smoothness- may be a little less or about the same as the 61.11s.However I am playing around with the AA and AF settings to see what is best.DaveMSI KT6V-LSR(MS-7021)AMD Athlon XP3000.768 MB 333mhz DDRAMTi4200/128MB GPU.61.40 driversMaxtor 80GB HDD(7200rpm)Maxtor 40GB HDD(7200rpm)LG CDRWLG CDR 52Xo/b AC97 soundThermaltake 480W PSUWinXP- SP1.Direct X 9BSaitek Cyborg 3D Joystick
June 13, 200421 yr yes they're pirated betas.Never use anything except official releases from http://www.nvidia.com as such betas can be highly unstable.
June 13, 200421 yr "yes they're pirated betas." Yes - I agree you're probably correct about that----- but.............I've used these and others from the same source many times and - so far at least - never had any problems with them. That's not to say that every issue has made an improvement in performance etc- some have shown a loss EG: the 56.72 slowed things down for me - both the leaked and later official ones.I guess it's up to the individual -at the end of the day if they don't work you can always go back to your previous.Dave
June 13, 200421 yr I think you need to be careful to distinguish between `pirated` and `leaked`. The 61.40's are leaked, and are therefore not pirated. There is a grand tradition that `unofficial` drivers are leaked to the wider community for testing above and beyond normal beta testing regimes.I have the 61.40's on test at the moment and I must say that I can't see any improvement over any of the previous 60.xx series, but they do offer some new features that were not previously available from driver options menu's directly. However, they do work better with DirectX9.0c beta, so maybe it's a sign of things to come when XP SP2 is officially released. As Dave says, it's up to the individual to decide whether to try them. Create a System Restore point and/or use the rollback option and I can't see there's any risk whatsoever. You only know it when you've tried it!Allcott
