Winfast FX5700LE display problem

Featured Replies

Anyone seen this problem?I've got a new PC with Winfast A360 FX5700LE card, AMD 3200+, Asrock K7S8XE mobo. OS is WinXP Pro SP2 RC.In FS2002 and 2004 objects within the sim rapidly flash on and off and/or their dimensions become distorted. This happens to runways, taxiways, parts of aircraft and buildings - and mountains become transparant from a distance.Other aspects of the sim (menus etc) look OK as does every other program I've tried.I've tried the usual stuff like the latest graphics drivers plus some older verions. I've fiddled with all the display settings in both versions of the sim and also the graphic driver settings. I've also dropped the AGP from X8 to X4 but nothing helps. Is anyone using this card?Any clues what might be wrong?David

I now know that it's not the card which is faulty. I went back to the shop where I bought the PC and we tried a replacement Winfast card and also an MSI FX5600TX - which exhibited exactly the same symptoms. The guy in the shop said it looked like a polygon rendering problem and I should look for a FS2002/4 patch. But I'm pretty sure there isn't one.I've also got the latest AGP drivers and BIOS for the mobo. The problem's still there.Any ideas. I don't know what to do next.David

Did you use Driver Cleaner to remove the old drivers? Also you might want to search on `fs9.cfg`. This appears to parallel a difficulty someone else was having.Allcott

>Did you use Driver Cleaner to remove the old drivers?>I have now. But the problem remains.>Also you might want to search on `fs9.cfg`. This appears to>parallel a difficulty someone else was having.>The closest desription of my problem is in the thread "FS9 and Radeon 9800Pro problems solved!" and it was solved by a mobo BIOS upgrade. There was another thread which discussed Render to Texture, but I had already disabled that.My K7S8XE mobo has an SiS 748 chipset and I've got the latest BIOS (2.0) and AGP drivers (1.17e) from SiS - or at least I think I've managed to install these. The information reported back by SiSoft Sandra doesn't make it clear (to me) what bits of the motherboard have got which firmware versions.I'm thinking I may just junk this mobo and get something with a different chipset. As long as I get one that will take my current RAM and CPU I won't have wasted too much money.David
