July 25, 200421 yr Hi,Today I went out and bought a USB 4 Port Hub because I now have too many devices with USB plugs for my two USB ports to handle. Anyway, I plugged it all in and it worked like a dream, until, when in the middle of a short flight, I suddenly felt the urge to connect the hub to the power, which I hadn't done before. The back of the package said that it highly recommended you have it plugged in whenever possible, although some devices do not need power. So I plugged in the power, and it turned itself off for a second and then came back on, giving me 4 grens for the four ports but still giving me a red light for power. I thought it was kinda strange, but I left it how it was. I unpaused the sim and almost straight away my aircraft went into dive which I couldn't pull out of.After I crashed and left the sim I assumed it must have scrambled my calibration, so I went and had a look, and sure enough the control inputs were jumping like mad all over the shop even though i wasn't touching the stick. These wern't just small jumps either, they were all the way around, sometimes as far left as it go to as far right. When I tried to recalibrate it however, it wouldn't change. For example, it would tell me to move the stick in complete circles, and I would do that, and it would slightly affect what was on the screen but it would still keep spiking. Same thing for the throttle, I may move it all the way down and it would spike to full throttle, but when I move it to full throttle it would only move up to about 40% on the screen. The same thing for the rudder.I tried restarting the computer and recalibrating, I tried disconnecting the power and recalibrating, I tried disconnecting the power, restarting and recalibrating but nothing seems to have fixed it. I also am able to send things to and retrieve things from my TI calculator which is also connected through the USB hub. Any help would be appreciated.Cheers, Liam
July 25, 200421 yr Actually, after looking at it more closely, I found that the joystick only seems to jump in a particular area unless it is moved. The + sign will only seem to jump around inside the oval ive drawn on it. http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/85260.jpgCheersLiam
July 27, 200421 yr Hi Liam,I have a Top Gun Afterburner II, and I had my share of problems before I knew what was going on. The problem consisted in bad connections in the USB port for my part. I had to plug in - plug out a couple of times before the + sign was centered. Then, before starting the mapping software, I rotated the joystick a couple of laps to all four corners. After that I activated my mapping software.I you don't have the mapping software, you'll find it here:http://ts.thrustmaster.com/eng/index.php?p...=3&pid=47&cid=5Always check the XP control box before starting FS9 and remember to "calibrate" the joy by moving joy, throttle and rudder in all directions. After that it works fine (most of the time :))Regards,Jan Bergwall
