July 26, 200421 yr Hey Guys,So I finally figured out the problem I was having with my nVidia Ti4200 64MB video card. As it turns out (as I later learned when my screen started randomly dying), the video card had gone bad on me. So, thanks to the folks at PNY, I'm back up and running again, ready to give this a second shot. Now I'm encountering a new, consistent problem whenever I try to look at the shiny planes. In cockpit view, I'm getting decent performance (see full specs below) even with payware add-ons...though I'm finding that night flying is the best ;). However, if ever I try to switch to spot view to look at the lovely bird, not only do my framerates drop off the scale (FS becomes nearly unresponsive), but also my sound card - a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz - cuts out. I lose all sound entirely, and have to reboot my computer to get it back.I'm puzzled. I'm figuring that there's some setting somewhere that's causing some kind of a leak when I switch to an exterior view, but I don't know even where to start. I've fiddled a bunch with the detail settings, but it hasn't produced much change. Frankly, I'm even more confused about optimizing FS9 after reading all of those 5,000 page guides anyway :(. If anyone has a similar setup and solved a similar problem, or if anyone thinks they know what's causing this issue, please let me know.It also used to be that the sim got really slow whenever I was pointing down (toward the ground) rather than up (toward the sky) while in the cockpit, and figured out a couple of settings that fixed the problem. I found that the terrain detail for water (I kept land on) was a big issue, and also think I was just trying to do too much with too little. But I don't think that's the case with the spot plane issue. Like I said, help is much appreciated! Thanks,Keith
