Hi Soarpics and Ken,nope, checked all that, and the Symantec thingie, I am up to date with my virus Software / Definitions etc, but I am not any expert.I could find nothing of the things that Symantec said to look for in those locations.I am very puzzled here as everything and I mean everything works just fine, but, my start up is slightly slower now, and I still get that error message when I boot up.I'm dredding the thought, but it might mean a re-format,unless anyone has any other ideas.but thank you both again for you're time and help.Steve.
