September 9, 200421 yr Hi,Could anyone please help me with this problem. The texture on the ground is big areas with no textures, this does not happen all over, but can suddenly appear in some areas. It can be both sea and land areas. If it is land, the base color is usually different shades of green(only one color in one area) and sea is blue. Tried very much with no success. Changed settings in FS2004 and tried one other thing I found in the forum-----------------------------The problem is FS2004 requires much more memory than FS2002 then throwing on top this aircraft you need all the memory you can get. The reason your loosing textures is due to memory. I had this same issue happen with other addon aircraft in FS2004.The solution I found and have not seen it happen since is this:Right Click My ComputerGo to PropertiesGo to Advanced TabClick Settings Button under PerformanceClick Advanced TabUnder Memory Usage change to Programs Do not use system cache. This is all under XP PRO.-----------------------------This did not help ether!!!Does anyone have a clue, any help would be appreciated. There is no problem in FS2002My system is AMD 2500+ CPU, 768Mb ram, ATI radeon 9800ProTor-Einar
September 10, 200421 yr I used to have this happen on my old box with low ram, "192mb", but only at certain times. I never have this on my present box with 512 ram. So in theory, you should have enough to make it. I do know a way to fix this though. Or at least it would fix it on mine...You will need to "flush" all your stock scenery files, and reload fresh. To do this , open scenery.cfg in the main fs9 folder, and open the file with a text editor. At the top you will see:[General]Title=FS9 World SceneryDescription=FS9 Scenery DataClean_on_Exit=falseEdit that "false" to "true" and save the file. Then start fs9, and then close fs9 using normal methods. All your stock scenery files will be gone. Then go back and edit the "true" back to "false" in the scenery.cfgThen restart fs9, and let it reload all the files from the cd. "#4"For some reason, this always cured that problem when I had it..And yes, even with only 192 ram, I could actually fly and see ALL textures when the sim wasn't pulling the texture funky...I've never had this problem with the new box, and new video card.BTW!!!!! If you use a modified traffic file, SAVE IT!!!It will be lost in the flush. My traffic file is easily replaced from TTtraffic if I erase it. I can make a new one anytime, as I manually edit my traffic flight file, and always have the text files in the TT folder to make a new one. MK Mark Keith
September 10, 200421 yr FS9 Is CPU dependent, and you don't say what speed you're running that 2500 at. You should O/C your system as far as possible and still be stable. On your video card settings... make sure that Anti-Aliasing is unchecked in the sim. FS9 AA defaults to 2X and is software rendered, which means your very nice video card will do nothing for you if you use AA in the sim. Uncheck it in the sim and set the card's properties at your desktop. You can run AA at 4X and AF at 16X with your 9800Pro.There is much more to this... copying your FS9.cfg here would be useful to us, and please post a screen shot of your DirectX Display page. Thanks,Greg
September 10, 200421 yr Hi, thanks for the inputs. It didn't help by reducing the agp settings in bios. Will try the other suggestions later tonight. Will post the results here. How do you take screenshots in fs2004 and directx pages? And I couldn't fing a fs9.cfg file!!!Tor-Einar
September 10, 200421 yr Hi all,Thanks for the help.It works great now, it might have been the flushing of scenery's.I appreciate everybody for the help.Tor-Einar
September 10, 200421 yr First thing to do is some reading here at Avsim. Start here: http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...sg_id=230&page= The very first topic will explain where your FS9.cfg is located. There is a lot more useful info in that thread as well. The two threads at the top of this forum are must reads. They are the "Routine System Maintenance" thread by Cruachan, and the "FS2004 and WinXP Optimization Guide V2" by OneTinSoldier. They will assist you in configuring and maintaining your computer and this sim for top performance. You should study BlackViper's site to better understand the Windows XP Services. He does a good job of explaining what each does and it's impact on the system. http://www.blackviper.com/index.html DO NOT set about shutting down alot of the XP Services!!! Simply familiarize yourself with them at this time. You should do a search in the Avsim library for Ken Salter's "FS Autostart". It's a neat little program that allows the user to shut down chosen services and programs before starting a gaming session. It will then restart those services and programs when you end your gaming session. All gamers should use FS Autostart.Forget the screen shots for now. To access the DX info click on Start>Run> type "dxdiag" (without the quotes)> allow the DirectX Diagnostic Tool to stabilize (watch the scroll bar in the lower left corner)> click on the "Display" tab. Now look under the "DirectX Features" section (midway down the page on the left side). If any of the three features DOES NOT say "Enabled" then you need to reinstall your motherboard chipset drivers. Go to your MB manufacturer's website to get the latest drivers for your board. This will get you started. Feel free to post back here if you need additional assistance.Cheers,Greg
September 10, 200421 yr The flush should have done it. There is also another way you can do it sometimes. If it happens again, try going into the "settings" for scenery and change the texture level. This will force a "texture rewrite" of sorts, and usually fix it. You can reset back to your normal settings after you do that. But I have had cases where a total flush was needed to totally fix the problem. Not sure why it does that...MK Mark Keith
September 10, 200421 yr Hi,Thanks Greg for all the links and info. I sure will look into it, anything that can tweak the system is appreciated.Have a nice weekend everybody.Tor-Einar
