Ridiculous (bouncing betty flight model)

Featured Replies

After a long layoff from simming (too much work, not enough time), I'm trying to get back in the saddle (or should that be cockpit?). I jump in the 172, taxi to the runway, and as I cross from the "smooth" tarmac to the "rough" runway (probably gravel), the aircraft bounces violently and the engine shuts down. And I'm taxining as SLOW as I can! Will there ever be a sim without something ridiculously wrong with it?-Basil

In answer to your first part, try holding the stick or yoke back to unload the nosewheel and apply bursts of power, not a constant throttle setting. If its the default flight model I dont know what else to say as I use a much better one by Ron Freimuth and Roger Long. I cant remember where I got it from, but it must have been here or Flightsim. It taxis just fine.As for your second part, one persons nightmare travesty of a pathetic escuse for a product is someone elses indifferent inconsequential miniscule irritation. Take your first question for example. It obviously seriously impinges on your enjoyment. But you could just stay on the runway or find an effective way of taxiing the aircraft properly. Its never bothered me and I fly GA almost exclusively. So I dont think any developer could cover all the possible permutations and satisfy EVERYBODY.Chas

Try another airport, or runway..I've run into a few with that type of problem. But only a few!L.Adamson
