September 21, 200421 yr I'm trying to configure FS9 to run on my system and I'm getting between 10-15 FPS locked on at 20 FPS. I should be able to get a better FPS since I have the following. Intel 865PERL MB, P4 3.0GHZ HT CPU, 1GIG Dual Channel DDR400 RAM, Nvida FX5700 Ultra with 256RAM using driver V61.77, DirectX 9.C installed. Windows XP Pro. Running 1024x768 32bit resoultion, all setting tabs set between medium high and high, aircraft, scenery, weather, etc. I would like to try 1280x1024 res but not sure if I can with a lost in FPS. I dont have all settings maxed out, and I thought for sure I would be OK with the above settings. I have tried turning things down and up, I may see a little improvement but not allot. WHat should I have my FPS locked at anyway with this sytem? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Randy
September 21, 200421 yr Welcome to the forums, Randy.Your hardware looks to be fine. What you didn't mention is the settings that you're using for the video card. For your card I would recommend 2xAA and 4XAF as a start. Also, keep in mind that this is all about balanced system performance. Even the very best hardware available will not prevent a poor OS and/or sim configuation from creating an unexceptable gaming experience. You should visit BlackViper's site to better understand what all the services in your OS do. And which ones can be tweaked (set to "manual" or "disabled"). A word of warning though... don't go crashing around the Services section of your OS until you are sure what you are doing. Study his explanations and warnings carefully. http://www.blackviper.com/index.htmlA very handy tool for all gamers is made by our own Ken Salter and available in the Avsim library. Do a search there for FSAutoStart. If you wish for some intensive and thorough assistance in configuring your system go here: http://www.fs-gs.com/ The service carries a fee, but most who have availed themselves of it have been more than happy.Hope this helps,GregP.S. With my configuration I lock my frames at 25. I fly only GA so big airports rarely concern me. When I do fly into a large airport my frames will dip down into the high teens. Clouds don't bother me much, but that's because ATI cards don't AA Alpha textures (many nVidia cards do).
