DX9.0c screwed FS up

Featured Replies

Uhh yeah. Using ATI9000 mobility. I've tried the omegadrivers, which only made things worse. Well, Doom3 runs fine, I guess that's all people care about these days...Any ideas?Thanks-Danielhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/92145.jpg

While this may sound like stating the obvious, looks like your cloud textures aren't working - what I see in the screenshot is the block outline of the untextured clouds (ie, the volume). This could be because of a config setting in FS or missing textures. Have you tried to delete your FS9.CFG file (after making a backup) and recreating? I would also lookup the texture tweaks up in the forum tips/tricks to see if that helps any.

Thanks, but no, I haven't had problems before installing DX9.0c, and I've already tried deleting the cfg. I don't even mind the clouds that much at the moment, but whenever there is a larger amount of textures on screen, FS seems to revert to the worst mip level availabe. Also, landing lights look just as stupid as the clouds (no transparency). Also, the bump mapped water looks like a board of chess on drugs... When I hit "alt" to go to the menu, I get normal quality (except for the transparency), the same happens sometimes when I press pause. It's as if something was clogging up my graphics memory or something. I guess I'll have to revert to DX9.0b or something. -Daniel

I'm not sure you can revert back (the DX9c install states it cannot be uninstalled, but that's only what it says).I bet you had no idea you signed up for the Picasso edition of Fs...

Hehe no, I didn't. Oh well. Life sucks sometimes ... -Daniel

Could you share your complete configuration?

I have an Acer Travelmate 800LCi with a 1.3GHz Centrino and a 64mb ATI mobility Radeon 9000, 512mb ddr ram, 60gb HDD. The issue must be directX 9.0c. I've gotten rid of the blurries-effect, by not using textures without mip mips, but transparency still doesn't work, neither does bump-mapping. DirectX 9.0c started it all...-Daniel

How about the "restore" to an earlier date function?

Aw well. My notebook is going to service now anyway, I'm gonna get a brand new one from Acer now :-jumpy because it's the 3rd time it's being serviced. I love europe...;) Hope I'm gonna get the 8000 with an ATI9700 :D Still, this has nothing to do with the problem, but I won't be having the problem once I get the new one I suppose ...-Daniel
