October 7, 200421 yr Hey all. Over the past two weeks I've been having serious driver issues. Although it might be directx, I'm running 9.0c. I have AA and AF at 4 and 8x. Like I always have. But now I am experiencing jagged edges... not always right away but whenever I hit alt+tab to look at a chart or something. When I come back its jagged city. I'm completely lost. I'm running the CAT4.9s from the ATI site on my 9800 Pro 128 MB. I've tried to use the omega drivers but nothing has helped and I'm really getting desperate. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.Edit: Right now I'm reinstalling SP2... anything is of use now. :Shttp://www.darkstarorder.com/SigFinal.jpgKen Weik [link:maam.org|MAAM-SIM][link:library.avsim.net/search.php?CatID=root&SearchTerm=kenneth+weik&Sort=Added&ScanMode=0&Go=Change+View]My AFCADs
October 7, 200421 yr Hi Ken,A couple of things to check first... at the command prompt type "services.msc". Once the "Services" window opens check the "ATI Hotkey Poller" service. If you aren't using any hotkeys to tweak your vc on the fly this service can be disabled. Note: if your card offers the "Overdrive" function you will lose it if this service is disabled (no great loss... there are plenty of overclocking utlities for your Radeon if you wish to do that sort of thing).Though ATI (and all the Catalyst driver tweakers) claim that new drivers can be installed directly over previous ones, it's best to always use the Add/Remove function within Windows to uninstall the old drivers. To be thorough use Drivercleaner to rid the system of all previous drivers so that your new ones will be a clean install. Get DriverCleaner here (and be sure to follow the directions per the ReadMe): http://www.driverheaven.net/cleaner/You can also try this little trick... 1) In your desktop driver tweaker go to the Direct3D page and set everything to "Default". 2) Click "Apply" and then "OK" back out of the tweaker to your desktop. 3) Now go back into the tweaker and set all the DirectX properties as you wish, click "Apply" and then OK your way back out to the desktop. Try the sim now and see if the problem is gone. If so, you really should do a clean uninstall/reinstall of the drivers (using DriverCleaner, of course).Hope this helps,Greg
October 7, 200421 yr Wow. Thanks for the help! Unfortunately, I've tried just about everything except for the services.msc. However, the reinstall of SP2 seems to have worked. Thanks. :Dhttp://www.darkstarorder.com/SigFinal.jpgKen Weik [link:maam.org|MAAM-SIM][link:library.avsim.net/search.php?CatID=root&SearchTerm=kenneth+weik&Sort=Added&ScanMode=0&Go=Change+View]My AFCADs
October 7, 200421 yr Ken,This is why I will not install SP2 until we are forced to use it. (computer will not boot up or something like that.)Terry
October 7, 200421 yr But the reinstall is what fixed it. ;)http://www.darkstarorder.com/SigFinal.jpgKen Weik [link:maam.org|MAAM-SIM][link:library.avsim.net/search.php?CatID=root&SearchTerm=kenneth+weik&Sort=Added&ScanMode=0&Go=Change+View]My AFCADs
