VCs and drop in frame rates

Featured Replies

In reading the posts regarding the advnteges and disadvantages of VCs, I hear the argument that they decrease frame rates. Now, this may be entirely true, but in my experience, I get MUCH lower rates with the 2D panel, as opposed to the 3D. Am I doing something wrong here, or is this just anti-VC propaganda? :)On a second strain, what makes the default MS VCs so much more frame rate-friendly? IMHO, they are more pleasing to me than most 3rd party VCs. Sincerely, Earl

I run quite a few add-on aircraft with VC's, mostly payware. Some have faster running 2D panels, and with some, the VC's run up to nearly twice as fast. And I agree that the default VC's look better than a few add-ons, but the reverse is also true. L.Adamson

Hi Ryan,in this case, it is because the PSS 2D panel is made of "vector" gauges, whereas the 3D panel, is made of regular "bitmap" gauges. As to the performances, here are a couple thread in the aircraft & panel forum to help shed some light.about vector gauges in the VC:http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/DCForumID9/558.htmlabout the 2D/VC from the inside:http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/DCForumID9/1194.htmlmore about the VC from the inside:http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/DCForumID9/273.htmlHope this helps!
