Dell 2005FPW vs. Dell 2001FP

Featured Replies

Hi all,I am currently in the middle of spec'ing out a new system. As the reviews start to pour in about the new Dell 2005FPW widescreen, it is starting to sound really cool! Has any had any experience using a widescreen format - I know it works in virtual mode, but in 2D mode - can you change the screen format to accept 4:3? Meaning...if I fly 2D, can I set the monitor so that it has 2 black lines on the sides?Next question....should I just go with the 2001FP 20"?Thanks all!Chris [email protected] (Previously KSFO)http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpg

Yes, 3D is fine. But the 2D mode will have stretched panels as they are basd on 4:3 bitmaps. However if you are familiar in doing some panelwork you could get it to work. You also can set the screen to a 4:3 res and work with the black lines. However you would have to change to another res in 3D then. Or change the extension of te screen everytime. WIth today's marvellous VCs I fly from the VC exclusively since I have the widescreen monitor and never looked back.It tried a few other games and they all work with widescreen as well. But consider that there is a price as the graphics card also has to render more pixels.Alex
