Minimal Custom Install of Windows XP using nlite

Featured Replies

Hi all,Found out how to do this a while back and it seriously increases the performance of windows in general and FS2004.Basically with a normal installation of windows xp alot of rubbish is installed that you will never need to use. This takes up valuable disk space and can affect performance. Services that may not be required also use up the computer resources. Well there is a great program called nlite which is available from http://nuhi.msfn.org (You need .NET Framework 1.1 in order to run it... )nLite Features- Service Pack Integration- Component Removal- Unattended Setup- Driver Integration *- Hotfixes Integration **- Tweaks- Patches ***- Bootable ISO creationThis great little program handles the creation of a new Windows CD from your current one albeit greatly reduced in size. It is also capable of slipstreaming service packs. Additionally it has lots of windows tweaks that you can enable. It is well documented, telling you what is safe for removal and quick. Additionally it helps your create an unattended installation whereby you won't have to enter all the info during windows installation - greatly reduces the installation time.Anyway give it a try, and if you need any help don't hesitate to ask.
