March 23, 200521 yr Hi,I've just changed my parallel ATA hard disk with a serial ATA one, reinstalled a fresh copy of Windows XP PRO SP1, updated motherboard drivers to the latest available (chipset i848, Asus P4P800-SE), installed FS 2004 but it doesn't want to start. After the installation, the first time I've launched it it generated scenery database, index etc but after that it hangs up.I tried to launch it into safe mode (not windows safe mode), I tried to restore default parameters but it always hangs up.It seems the problem is a module named "hungapp".If I connect the old hard drive and I boot the system from it, everything works fine.FS 2004 is the only one program installed so far in the new disk so I don't know where the problem is...actually I've reinstalled FS2004 several times but I've never got problems. Is it something related to the serial ATA drive? But I don't think I'm the one and only to use this kind of hard drive.Going around on the net searching a solution I found that many suggest to defrag the hard disk...but it's a new installation with only the operating system, drivers and FS 2004 so I don't think it's a defragmentation problem.Any suggestion? The video card is a GeForce MX440 64 MB AGP 8X with nvidia driver 56.72 (the same release I have on the old hard drive). Thanks in advance, best regards.Bob
March 24, 200521 yr I did a search on the Internet for hungapp errors and found many errors were caused due to bad installation of video or sound card drivers. That's what I would suspect first. I have an ATA hard drive and have no problems. I had a similar problem and uninstalled/reinstalled FS9 and still had the freeze at the startup screen (instantly indicated to me that this was not a FS9 problem but a hardware problem). Reinstalled the video card drivers and everything works like a charm. Really upset I had to uninstall/reinstall FS9 to find out though! You might also try deleting your FS9.cfg and let it rebuild itself. If may have gotten corrupted during startup. Hope this helps.Jim
March 24, 200521 yr Thank you for your answer....I did several tries and I found that the problem was the release of the chipset drivers.I don't know why but installing the latest FS9 hangs but installing the release given with the motherboard it works !!....mistery....Anyway now I got back my FS2004 working and that's what it's worthy ehehGreetings....
March 24, 200521 yr Good to hear you have FS9 installed and working again. I would have suspected chipset drivers too except you stated in your orig post that you had already installed them. If it hangs again, definitely suspect your video card drivers first.Jim
