Well, this just popped up this evening. Has anybody encountered something similar? Is my ATI 9700 Pro AGP on the blink? Checked connections, reseated card, several reboots.... still the same. :(

That ain't good! Looks like your GPU core is not happy. It may be headed for the big video card in the sky, but you could also have something as simple as a VC fan that is dying. Best test is to remove the left side case cover and blow air into the VC region using a house fan. If the problem goes away then it's the VC fan. I highly recommend the Artic Cooling VGA Silencer. A great VC cooler if for no other reason than it expels the hot air from the VC out the back of the case.Hope it's just the fan,GregP.S. In reply to a question you asked in another thread about getting your pic to show in your post, make sure to place a check next to "Check this box if you wish to embed attachment URL in the message text box."

You havent by any chance enabled "overdrive" in the driver properties, or are overclocking your GFX card via a different route?I get the same thing when I am a little to over zealous with the overclocking.Dan.

Naw... no OC for me. Makes me nervous. I played with it a bit, re-seated, checked temp, re-booted... but no change. So I shipped it back to ATI today. Oh well, guess that's about 6 weeks of simming at the minimums (Threw in an old All-In-Wonder 32MB 4x AGP). Not to bad... I can live with it for a tad. Just need to move my sliders to the left for a while. :(
