March 30, 200521 yr Hello All.I received the components for my new machine yesterday and will be building this evening. I have a question about drive selection in relation to FS.Specs-MSI K8N NeoPlatinum SLIAthlon 64 35001gb Corsair Ram1 Western Digital 36GB Raptor 10,000rpm1 80GB SATA Drive. My question is the following, in what manner should I use my drives to best take advantage of the Raptor disk in FS.My thought was to install Windows XP and FS on the Raptor drive and everything else on the 80 gig, 7200rpm disk. I'm sure there are varying opinions but I would like to hear about different experiences.Thanks-Eddie D
March 30, 200521 yr I would use the 80GB SATA for my C: Drive. I would partition it to put Windows on one partician of it... keeping it slim & trim. Ony the Operating System on that partician. Makes for a smaller backup of the entire OS should you use something like Drive Image.I would then put all other programs, files , etc on another partician of the same HardDisk. Finally, I would put FS2004 on the 36GB Rapter all on its own. I would fill that 36GB in no time with add-ons ;)Good luck...
March 31, 200521 yr The OS will access the drives at different speeds? It won't drop down to the lowest common denominator? billg
