Hi allafter a new upgrade costing 0ver

Hi Steve, great news, congratulations! I'll forward your thanks to my mentors. Hehe. Btw, what did you replace it with? Regarding the returning of the modules, give it a shot. I guess you told them what kind of system you have? Good luck and kind regards Jaap

Hi JAAPi didn't replace them..just turned them down from 400mhz to 333mhz...that did the trick...also shows that either one or both are faulty..or that they can't run with AMD 3500+64..:( ..they check them when they are returned thanks again JAAP best wishes steveps i actually bought all of the hardware from the same place..overclockers.com.. 1gb ballistic memory 400ddr Athlon 3500+64 949 pin Abit AV8 3rdeye mobo 949 pin 3d rocket pro heatsink by Gigabyte 75gb SATA Maxtor HD coolermaster STAcker Case coolermaster Motherboard FAN pioneer 108 DVD/cd sony CD player 52x cost me a small fortune...:)

Hi Steve, you're welcome and thanks for the info. I missed that bit. On a side note: In terms of performance I guess you're not loosing a lot by letting them run at 333 (maybe 3-5%). AFAIK, benchmark programs will notice a bigger difference but normal apps hardly do. Because the entire kit came from the same outfit, I think you do have an arguement to return the RAM in order to either have them checked or replaced for being non-compatible. Perhaps give it a shot? FYI, the most unproblematic AMD64 RAM I've encoutered are sticks with Samsung chips. Good luck and kind regards Jaap

I have an ASUS A7N8XE Dx with 1G 400DDR Kingston Valueram(2x512)and found the same problem as you. Had to set the memory ratio at 80% (320Mhz) before it was stable.I then locked the memory timing CAS RAS etc. at those settings and put the memory ratio back up to 100% and had no problems since running CPU and memory at 400Mhz. Do a search in this forum on A7N8X, Corsair, Kingston etc. for all the recent threads on settings people are using.Andy
