July 19, 200520 yr ...all of this is exactly why I plan on having a simulator bay built for the express purpose of keeping things cool. In fact, Im here in my spare bedroom with just my machine running with a fan blowing on it directly w/ the side off. It still shuts down sometimes when flying in congested areas like KATL with the PMDG 737NG. The room is not hot at all.System:AMD 2800XPWindows XP Home1 Gig 3200 RAMNvidia 6600GT 128 w/fan2 Case fansFS9PMDG NGUT USAUT2004ASV WxNow, why is my machine getting too hot, especially with a small house fan blowing on it? BTW, if it wasnt blowing on it, it would shut the whole pc down upon loading FS. Just a few minutes ago, FS CTDthanks,
July 19, 200520 yr What are the actual temperatures though? Just because it doesnt seem hot, it still may be. Report back with the temperature readings.
July 19, 200520 yr I have found, and I'm sure many will agree, that a PC can run hotter with the case open. This is due to the airflow not feeding over the CPU heatsink & fan properly. As suggested, you need to investagte more into exactly what temperatures you are seeing. Try googling for Motherboard Monitor and install that. It can be used to monitor CPU temp, system temp, fan speed etc, and can be very useful in setting up your cooling solution for better stability.
